WELCOME (Announcements) Rev. Trudy Dumont

*CALL TO WORSHIP:
L: The Spirit descends like a dove, bringing peace to unite the world in a just and caring community.
P: The Spirit comes like a breath, bringing life to renew the people of God.
L: The Spirit spreads like fire, bringing energy for witnessing to the love of God.
P: Spirit of the living God, come to us and transform our lives by your power.

*OPENING HYMN #561 “My Country, ‘Tis of Thee” (Blue Hymnal)

*UNISON PRAYER OF APPROACH TO GOD
Holy One, for all of the ways you speak to us – in rushing wind, in dancing flames, in words we understand, and in all that transcends language, we give thanks. Give us courage to speak your love, everywhere we go, to everyone we meet. Amen.

*HYMN: “There’s a Sweet, Sweet Spirit” (Blue Hymnal #398)

RESPONSIVE READING OF SCRIPTURE: Psalm 89:1-5 Pew Bible OT Page 545

*UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION
All: Because you dwell in our hearts, Eternal God, You know how the world tries to crowd you out. The noise of the world deafens us to that Word which can heal us. We want our children to be good, kind, and gentle to others, and then they hear us speak of our desire for revenge towards those who have hurt us. Shattered by our sin, Your heart can still heal our brokenness. Your Spirit, can teach us faithful ways. Your Word, Jesus Christ our Lord, whispers to us of your mercy, your hope, and your love. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENT CONFESSION AND REFLECTION

WORDS OF FORGIVENESS
L: Hear the good news! God’s Spirit has been poured out upon all flesh, and we have been made one. We are no longer scattered or divided, but gathered together to build up the kingdom on this earth. Thanks be to God! Amen.
