WPC Worship Service 9/6/26

09/05/2026

I am not going to lie, I have been living in fear lately, and it's been really difficult to dig myself out of it. The "what ifs" have been on repeat in my head.

But I'm still going. I'm still praying.

Trying to have more faith instead of fear. Trying to push the enemy and negative thoughts to the side.

This is a Christians life. Not perfect, still sinful, still fearful, all while still trying, still praying, repenting, and still hanging on.

Not today Satan.

Dear Jesus, please be with everyone who is hurting, battling depression, anxiety, grieving, and just dealing with the sorrow and hurt that this Earthly life brings. Please give us all peace beyond our understanding, and the strength to walk through the fires of life knowing you are with us. While we may not understand why things happen the way they do, and sometimes you have to tell us "no" when we desperately want the answer to be a "yes", help us fully trust and understand that your plans are always greater, and there is a REASON. Please help us fully trust in You, and your promises without any hesitation or doubt. Please help us lean on the promise of Heaven, and that you are working all things for good.

I am so sorry God for my lack of faith and letting fear take center stage. I am trying. I need you. Thank you for everything you have done, are doing, and will continue to do. I love you.

Amen.

P: The Spirit comes like a breath, bringing life to renew the people of God.
L: The Spirit spreads like fire, bringing energy for witnessing to the love of God.
P: Spirit of the living God, come to us and transform our lives by your power.

*OPENING HYMN #263 “Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise” (Blue Hymnal)

*UNISON PRAYER OF APPROACH TO GOD
Holy One, for all of the ways you speak to us – in rushing wind, in dancing flames, in words we understand, and in all that transcends language, we give thanks. Give us courage to speak of your love, everywhere we go, to everyone we meet. Amen.

CHILDREN’S CHAT Katie Nettell

RESPONSIVE READING OF SCRIPTURE: Psalm 139:1-18 Pew Bible OT Page #577

*UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, you are the God who hears, forgives, and rescues. We confess that we have loved hypocritically, sought our own good first, and offered hospitality begrudgingly. We overlook the lowly and overestimate ourselves. We have grumbled when you have called us to rejoice, and have given up too easily when our prayers seem to go unanswered. Forgive us and renew our spirits. Lead us to live peaceably and harmoniously with all, and empower us to worship and serve you with genuine love and unflagging zeal, to the glory of your holy name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENT CONFESSION AND REFLECTION

WORDS OF FORGIVENESS
Hear the good news: the gifts and calling of God are irrevocable. What God has given, God does not take back. The mercy that met you in your disobedience is the same mercy that meets you now, in your confession. You are not too far gone. You are never too far gone. In Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.
