St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Church - Detroit

We are grateful to Archbishop Weisenburger for decreeing the merger of St. Charles Lwanga and Christ the King. Christ the King Church will be the parish church, with St. Cecilia Church, the parish church of St. Charles Lwanga Parish, becoming an ancillary church, available for access by the Faithful as the circumstances provide.

We are excited about what lies ahead for our united parish family. One where we strengthen our ministries, grow together, and serve both our church and our local community with renewed passion. Together, we can nurture the bonds between our parish and Christ the King School. We encourage ongoing support for the development of St. Cecilia Church, Christ the King, and Christ the King School. Contributions to these initiatives can be made here. Thank you for your ongoing prayers and support as we embark on this journey forward, united as one vibrant parish community.

Our administrator, Fr. Athanasius Fornwalt, offers a spiritual reflection on this feast day of Saint John Paul II. Fr. A, as he is affectionately known, centers his ministry on accompaniment, renewal, and dignity—helping people, parishes, and neighborhoods rediscover hope and purpose in the midst of Detroit’s ongoing
