People's Community Outreach Center The People’s Community Outreach Center is a social service, non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, providing free services to those in need.

We offer programs and services such as: supportive housing, employment, financial literacy assistance, food and pantry assistance, clothing assistance, utilities assistance, MI Bridge (DHS) assistance, property tax assistance, home heating credit assistance, transportation assistance, rental assistance and shelter assistance, applying for SSI benefits, and notary assistance to the entire city of D

etroit. We provide over 300 services per month. Of the 300 services half are homeless services. We serve over 200 people per month, of the 200 (100) are homeless. The most requested services from our homeless population is SNAP (food stamp assistance, applying for Medicaid, housing assistance, food and clothing. We allow our homeless clients to use the outreach address as a mailing address and our phone number for messages. We provide financial assistance for purchasing birth certificates and Michigan State ID. We had to expand our service area when word of mouth got out about the assistance and services we offered to the homeless.

Our first Backpack Giveaway, on August 29th, was a huge success. Our goal was to distribute 100 backpacks, instead we gave away 120. A big THANK YOU goes out to all the staff, volunteers, supporters and sponsors.
