About Pastor Jalen - Pastor Ja’Len M. Nicholson is the Senior Pastor of New Light Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan. A passionate preacher, teacher, and visionary leader, Pastor Nicholson is committed to proclaiming the Gospel with biblical integrity, practical relevance, and the power of the Holy Spirit. Since assuming the pastorate, he has led New Light through a season of spiritual renewal, community outreach, and ministry growth under the church’s vision to “Shine Again.”

A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Pastor Nicholson is a United States Air Force veteran and is pursuing advanced studies in public leadership and law. His ministry is marked by a heart for discipleship, community transformation, and equipping believers to live out their faith beyond the walls of the church.

Pastor Nicholson is happily married to his wife, Ta’Niyah, and together they are the proud parents of one son, Kaden. He considers it a great privilege to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and believes that “your life gets better from here.”
