It was fitting that today we both celebrated the Day of the Dead, with the help of longtime member Lorenza Acker, and also the life of the late John Angry, who first joined UU Detroit in 1950.

We were glad to have Northwest Unitarian Universalist Church join us for the occasion.

Former 1st UU Detroit member Viola Liuzzo was a civil rights activist who lost her life to an attack by the K*K after participating in Rev. Dr. King's Selma march. Viola's family was targeted in the wake of her death and it has led to hardships in the life of her children. Viola's son Anthony needs help with emergency roof repairs. He called Rev. Julie and they reminisced about attending Sunday school in the same second story classrooms. If you are able, please donate to Anthony's fund.
