One day. Many hands. Countless moments of community support. πŸ’š
Day of Dignity brought families, volunteers, partners, and community members together at ICD for a back-to-school day centered on practical support and meaningful connection.
From backpacks and school supplies to hygiene kits, winter jackets, hot meals, family essentials, health services, and gifts, every part of the day was designed to help families across Detroit and surrounding communities begin the school year with greater support.
But behind everything distributed were people who chose to give their time, energy, and care.
Our sincere thanks to Islamic Relief Midwest, our volunteers, participating organizations, community partners, and every family who joined us and made the day what it was. 🀝

It started with empty tables, unopened boxes, and a plan. Then the community brought it to life. πŸ’š
In just a few hours, preparation turned into movement, supplies turned into support, and every station became part of a larger effort to serve families across Detroit and surrounding communities.
That transformation did not happen by accident.
It happened because volunteers arrived early, teams worked together, partners coordinated, and everyone understood the role they had to play.
From setup to service, Day of Dignity was built one small action at a time.

Day of Dignity was more than a back-to-school event. It was a community showing up for one another. πŸ’šπŸŽ’
Throughout the day, families from Detroit and surrounding communities were welcomed with school supplies, family essentials, hot meals, health resources, and moments created to help children begin the school year feeling supported and ready.
None of it happens through one person or one organization alone. It happens when volunteers give their time, partners bring their resources, and a community chooses to care together.

The month of Rabi al Awwal invites Muslims to reflect on the merciful character and example of Prophet Muhammad ο·Ί.

Allah says We have sent you, O Prophet, only as a mercy for the whole world.

Love for the Prophet ο·Ί should be visible in the way we worship, speak, serve our families, care for neighbors, and respond to people in need.

May our remembrance strengthen our practice and may our community reflect more of the mercy he taught.

Registration is now open for ICD Weekend School 2026–2027, where students can grow in their Islamic knowledge while learning, connecting, and building strong values in a welcoming community.
