It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our long time member, Linda Pruss.
Linda was an integral part of our community, deeply valued for her love and dedication.

We will share further updates or ways to honor Linda's memory as we receive more information. Our deepest sympathies go out to Linda's loved ones and family.

Sincerely,
Iroquois Christ Church Council

Southeast Michigan Pride Service – “Queerly Beloved”

All are invited to the Southeast Michigan Pride Service, a sacred gathering that proclaims a bold and joyful truth: we are all queerly beloved—created, claimed, and cherished by God exactly as we are.

This year, that proclamation matters in a particular way. At a time when LGBTQ+ people—especially our transgender siblings—are facing increasing hostility, misunderstanding, and harm, the Church is called not to be silent, but to be clear. Clear in our love. Clear in our welcome. Clear in our commitment to be with and for one another.

This service is not only a space of celebration, but a witness. A witness that God’s love is wider than fear, stronger than hate, and more faithful than the voices that seek to diminish or erase. It is also a call to allies—because affirmation is not passive. It is lived. It is spoken. It is shown in the ways we advocate, protect, and make space for those whose dignity is too often questioned.

Together, we gather as an affirming, anti-violence, anti-racist community, centered in the love of Jesus—a love that does not exclude, but embraces; does not erase, but honors; does not remain quiet, but speaks life.

This is more than a service.

It is a declaration: you belong. You are beloved. And we will all come together.

Trinity Sunday Potluck Picnic was on Sunday, May 31, 2026. The trinity needed for a picnic is great people, great food and great weather. The great people of IACLC, & friends, provided tables full of great food. Every thing from hot-off-the-grill hot dogs, to hot dishes, healthy salads and fruit, homemade cake and a bottle or two of wine all appeared. God provided us with great weather, free of wasps and other stinging insects. The picnic ended with some serious talk with Pastor Barry about what is happening at IACLC. A great way to enter summer.

As we enter the summer season, we pause to reflect on all that we have shared—prayers lifted, hearts opened, and lives touched.
Summer often brings a change of pace, new rhythms, and moments of rest. It is also an opportunity to carry what we’ve cultivated into the world around us.

Let us pray: Gracious God,
As we step into this new season, go with us.
In our travels, be our guide.
In our rest, be our peace.
In our gatherings, be our joy.

Help us carry forward all we have practiced—
gratitude, love, compassion, peace, kindness, and joy.
May we be a light wherever we go, reflecting Your goodness in both small moments and meaningful encounters.
Refresh our spirits, renew our strength, and draw us closer to You in this season. Amen.

Summer Reminder: Wherever you go, carry the spirit of love with you and with blessings for the season ahead,

The day after the sanctuary painting was finished, we had an unexpected wedding at IACLC. The wedding party had rented the church for their rehearsal dinner last Saturday. The wedding was scheduled for Sunday in the Indian Village Centennial Garden around the block from the church. However, it rained all day Saturday and a cold wind was blowing. They asked it the church was available on Sunday afternoon for a WEDDING and we said yes! After a scramble, the church was wedding ready on Sunday, May 23, 2026. It all worked out, to the relief of the mothers of the bride and groom the whole wedding party. and guests.
WE LOVE WEDDINGS AT IACLC! Are you, or someone you know, looking for a wedding venue? Consider our beautiful church and do not worry about the weather. We can also accommodate a wedding reception for over a hundred guests. See our wedding package on the website: https://www.iroquoischristlutheran.org/rentals

This week, we celebrate Pentecost—a powerful reminder that we are never alone. We are filled, guided, and empowered by the Spirit of God. Just as the early believers were renewed with courage and purpose, we too are invited to receive that same Spirit today.

Let us pray: Holy Spirit, Fall fresh upon us.
Fill every heart, every home, and every space we enter.

Where there is fear, bring courage.
Where there is weariness, bring renewal.
Where there is division, bring unity.

Ignite within us a holy fire—a passion to love, to serve, to speak truth, and to live boldly in faith.

Let Your presence move through us, not only in quiet moments,
but in how we live, how we love, & how we show up in the world.

We are open. We are ready. Have Your way in us. Amen.

Weekly Reminder:
Pause and invite the Spirit into your day—again and again.

A lot is happening at IACLC. Wild Child PlaySchool is opening its new Detroit Campus in our church. They will be the space Sundrop PlaySchool has vacated. In a new health department inspection of the building, loose paint was notice in the sanctuary. If not repaired the Playschool could not move in. We decided now the time to get the sanctuary repainted. The hard working crew of painters, with very tall ladders, has been painting all week.

The Food Pantry is helping people to grow their own food. Keep Growing Detroit has an excellent program to provide Detroit resident's with seeds and transplants for their gardens. IACLC bought in with a community garden package. We gave out dozens of plants and thousand of seeds on Friday, May 22, 2026. ALL the garden material was distributed to clients at the Food Pantry. In August, cool weather plants will be available from Keep Growing Detroit. https://www.detroitagriculture.net
