Proverbs 15:27 says "Whoever is greedy for unjust gain troubles his own household,
but he who hates bribes will live." We have all witnessed what has happened to our once promising Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. While we are not passing judgement on him, and we are praying for him as well as his wife and children, we as believers have a responsibility to love what God loves, hate what God hates and highlight what the word of God has to say about situations. The bible speaks clearly on this situation. There is nothing wrong with receiving gifts from one friend to another but it IS wrong to receive gifts in exchange for your vote or a job. As believers, we are supposed to love righteousness and truth. The real truth of the matter is that accepting bribes exposes what your true love is. 1Tim 6:10 says "the LOVE of money is the root of ALL evil". Proverbs 15:27 says it plain and clear that when you are greedy for unjust gain, you bring suffering upon YOUR OWN family. Your decisions effect more that just you. Just as if you we're to eat a whole strawberry cheesecake and become sick, your whole body would be effected, so it is with the decisions you make to be morally swayed by a bribe. Your family and all the people that you represent will be effected. One of the many things that makes our God great is that he always provides a way of escape from the enemies traps! The last part of the scripture says "but he who hates bribes shall live."Don't just proclaim God in a crowd but live for him when nobody's looking as well. How you act in private will either sustain your life or cut it short! When you act in integrity, you can live in righteousness! Be blessed New Breed!
