1 Peter 5:6-7

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”

Instead of complaining, pray!

It is so easy to feel very negative about many things in life. The news is full of reports that concern us and our own lives have many stresses, struggles, and anxieties. But the Lord is reminding us today to take those negative thoughts and translate them into positive prayers to God for his involvement in our world and in our lives.

Complaining doesn't really benefit anyone-not you, not the person you are venting your complaints onto, not the people you are complaining about! But what would happen if you turned your thoughts into prayers, not gripes? How much more pleasant you would be to spend time with! What's more, God would be acting in response to your prayers, sometimes changing the circumstance and sometimes changing you. His response may not always be just what you asked for, but you can be sure that he loves to act when his people pray.

Praying instead of complaining gives you a much more pleasant mindset about life. Your response to life becomes constructive instead of negative.

Has God called you out of the boat? Fear of the unknown can create a feeling of distrust in our hearts. We ask, “What if it doesn’t work out? What if we fail? What if we get lost?” God wants us to walk on the water of trust, Trust in Him.

There have been times in my life when I felt the Lord calling me out of the boat and to walk toward him.

Worthy

We have a powerful Creator, but it’s easy to forget how magnificent He is. We live in a world filled with His miracles, but it’s common to become desensitized to the wonder of it all.

God created something from nothing—speaking life, meaning, and purpose into existence. He is the author of everything. He is worthy of our worship.

Whales roam the seas, bears scavenge the mountaintops, fireflies light up the countryside. People explore the world, build skyscrapers, cook meals, develop languages, and form complex relationships—with God and with each other.

"You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being."
Revelation 4:11 NIV

“All things,” as the verse says, includes everything we can see and even the things we can’t—both the visible and invisible. “All things” also includes you.

You were intentionally and uniquely designed by God. You were put on this planet on purpose—at this specific time in history. You have been empowered to shine and share His love, in a distinct and special way that’s completely unique to you.

So take a moment to recognize, God made you and He loves you. He is worthy of your praise.

How to Fight Fear

Think back to a time when you were genuinely scared.

As much as we’d prefer to never experience fear, fear is a part of the human experience. But when we are afraid, we have options…

We can panic, stress, get overwhelmed with worry, overthink every worst-case scenario, and attempt to numb out the anxiety-inducing situations around us in unhealthy ways … or, we can echo David’s words:

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” ‭‭
Psalm‬ ‭56:3‬ ‭ESV

Something worth noting is that these words were penned after David had been captured by the Philistines. He was being harassed by his enemies and was scared for his life.

But David refused to settle for scared.
He resisted the urge to let fear have the final say. He decided to fight back with Truth…
…And so can we.

We never have to fight alone. God has given us something more powerful than ordinary weapons: He’s given us His Word, His Spirit, and His people. Even when we don’t have access to the perfect inspirational sermon or a timely word of encouragement, we can pause and remember the truth: that God fights for us, He’s with us, and He’ll never leave us.

When we shift our minds from our overwhelming fear to God’s overwhelming faithfulness, everything changes. So, today, if you’re scared, anxious, terrified, overwhelmed, or uncertain—speak this out loud:

When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.

A limb has fallen from our LWCC family tree that says grieve not for me. Remember the BEST TIMES, the LAUGHTER, the SONGS, YES THE SONGS, and the good life I lived while I was STRONG.
Sister Inez our hearts are hurting now and we're feeling sad but one thing we know you are now holding on to OUR MASTER'S HAND.
LWCC family we know this loss was shocking and sudden but let's stand strong and continue to love and pray for each other.
