Èyin Ọmọ Ilé Kóòtu Ojìíre ẹ ta jí, a ti sùn. Bi sí pò ẹ̀tọ́ rẹ.
It is a terrible thing when a man is caught in SELF-HATE, he will NEVER progress. And some people are bent on pushing the Yoruba population into the precipice of self-hate and inferiority complex.
YORUBA KNOW THYSELF and you will not be bamboozled into the stupidity of SELF-HATRED.
Know the TRUTH and it shall set you free.
Learn these words from the Yoruba belief system so you may be wiser.
According to the wisdom of our ancestors in their BELIEF SYSTEM which they had a RIGHT to:
1. ÒRUN are terrestrial spaces beyond the scope, knowledge and comprehension of mortal men, a place where it is believed some super beings and supernatural forces exist as SPIRITS.
Our Ancestors knew from those many thousands of years ago that there indeed were some terrestrial spaces beyond them and SCIENCE has since told us of a UNIVERSE, GALAXY and PLANETS and of UFOs ( Unidentified Flying Objects) who are far advanced beyond the humans on earth.
Ọ̀RUN is not the cloudy skies above your head where Aeroplanes fly. It is not the biblical heaven where Jehovah sits on one mighty throne, Abraham and Jesus by his left and right sides and a mighty pearly gates guarded by Angels. Ajayi Crowther was either deliberately mischievous or lost in the innocence of his ignorance when he translated the Greeko-Roman Heaven into Ọ̀RUN in the Yoruba bible.
2. ILÉ AYÉ is the earth, literally translated it means EARTHLY HOME which we all live in as mortal beings.
In the BELIEF system of our ancestors which they had a RIGHT to, the ILÉ AYÉ was created by ODÙDUWÀ and the first humans by ỌBÀTÁLÁ both of whom were messengers of Olódùmarè.
They were not known to have been born by any woman on earth. They just materialized
There were others like them e.g ÒGÚN, ÈṢÙ, ÒSÓÒSÍ etc.
Collectively they were known as IMỌLÈS or IRÚMOLÈ, they existed but never born by anyone. They were all messengers of Olódùmarè.
The Imoles created mortal men and infused spirits, including even their own spirit, into them from Ọ̀RUN, and the mortal bodies lived the lives of those spirits on earth for as long as they lasted.
All souls which become humans on earth were spirit beings from Ọ̀RUN. Mortal men were expected to know which spirits they personified. We used to know this in those days but we don't care any more.
The humans lived on earth and multiplied.
3. There is OLÒDÙMARÈ, the profound, supreme and unsearchable BEING who is maker of Ọ̀RUN and AYÉ
It is the BELIEF system of our ancestors, which they had a RIGHT to, that Olódùmarè is supreme over and controls the affairs of all Beings on the earth, beneath the earth, in the seas and oceans and also all the terrestrial spaces.
Our Ancestors weren't stupid and they had a RIGHT TO THEIR BELIEFS inasmuch as you as a Christian may also believe that Adam suddenly materialized and Eve came out from his bones.
OLÒDÙMARÈ is from the words OLÓDÙ (owner of POT ) MARÈ ( which is inexhaustible.
All mortal and immortal Beings WORSHIP OLÓDÙMARÈ.
OLÒDÙMARÈ IS THE ONLY BEING WHO IS WORSHIPPED IN THE YORUBA BELIEF SYSTEM.
4. ÒRÌSÀ is from tbe word ENI - ORÍ - SA. The one who is singled out as being exceptional.
They were Beings, mostly mortals who distinguished themselves exceedingly in the service of Mankind and before Olódùmarè and they became REVERED and accordingly DEIFIED like we still do today, Chief Obafemi Awolowo for example
ÒRÌSÀ is the Yoruba word for SAINT, like you have Saint Paul, Saint Matthew, Jesus etc whose names are invoked in your Christian Prayers
Example of such Being who became Òrìsàs in Yoruba land are Sàngó,, Òsun, Òsóòsí, Ògún etc
ABORISA is from the word ABỌ - ÒRÌSÀ - People who engage in practice of giving REVERENCE to Saints through whom they hope to get favours from Olodumare. They are not the "pagans" you call them today to stigmatize them.
Our ancestors NEVER Worshipped Òrìsàs and even till today nobody does.
5. ÈṢÙ is not the same as the Biblical Satan or Devil. It was the greatest blunder of Ajayi Crowther and he paid dearly for it.
ÈṢÙ in the Yoruba BELIEF system is a messenger of Olódùmarè, very benevolent and delivers rewards to people according to the works of their hands.
He is in charge of retributive Justice.
ÈSÙ is said to be so benevolent he cries even more than the person who suffers misfortunes.
6. AWO is first and foremost KNOWLEDGE.
AWO also describes a group of people with KNOWLEDGE
BABALÁWO is from the words - BABA-NÍ-ILÈ AWO, an Elder or Father in the House of Knowledge. It is also BABA ALÁWO. - Elder or Father over a group of people with Knowledge.
Babaláwo is not the wicked, haggard and dirty crooks our atrocious home videos, Christianity and Islam portray them to be.
The GREATEST KNOWLEDGE ever compiled is what is called IFA . Babalawo is therefore a PRIEST of the House of IFÁ.
7. IFÁ is not Magic and it's not demonic.
IFÁ is first and foremost a COMPENDIUM of KNOWLEDGE of No.1 - 5 above, stories about our HISTORY, PREDICTIONS for the future, PHILOSOPHY for educating the mind, DIRECTIONS for problem etc.
IFÁ is also a DIVINITION template for communicating with the terrestrial spaces.
IFÁ is a work of genuis put together by the Philosopher Saint, Òrúnmìlà who is said to have lived between Òkè-Ǐgétì and Òkè-Ìtasè in today's Ekiti and Òsùn states respectively.
What he did was to simply catalogue these sacred stories into sections for easy SCRIPTURAL REFERENCING
It was an excellent mathematical science arranging those mighty stories into Chapters and Verses called ODÙS so we can have it today as INFORMATION.
And he created an 8-BIT Binary combination of '0s' and '1s' which have a total of 256 possibilities to perfectly match the 256 available sections of the IFÁ which is what is used today as DIVINITION TOOL called Ọ̀PÈLÈ.
It is simple logical science but the Pastors will tell you it is demonic even when the same thing is their Bible.
8. ÒGBÓNI is from the words ÒGBÓ [ Old ] and ENI ( My/Our ]
ÒGBÓNI means OUR OLD PEOPLE. They were known to be the wisest in the land and they come together to give guidance for the peace of the land.
In Ijebu dialect they are known as ÒSÙGBO.
They were not an evil cult but they became demonized and rubbished in tbe wake of the foreign religions so as to take them out of the social order and render us rudderless as we have now sadly become.
9. KABIYESI is from the words KÁBI Ó Ò SÍ.
It loosely translates into the "The one who cannot be questioned. You couldn't question the Kábíyèsí.
And that is not an easy responsibility, our ancestors weren't stupid.
It simply means that the ỌBA IS THE FINAL AUTHORITY OR ARBITER. He empowered to be the LAST SPEAKER and whenever he speaks, whatever he says becomes a DECREE and it's final.
But the Kábíyèsí won't just speak because he understood the weight of his authority. The various Chiefs will speak first. The Ògbónis.will be consulted where necessary. The various sectional heads like Market women, Youths, Military etc will have their say.
IFÁ may be consulted where necessary.
By the time everything is gathered and consultations concluded the matter was already clear to all and Kábíyèsí will simply pronounce it a DECREE and NOBODY WILL DARE CHALLENGE.
Challenging the words of the Kabiyesiyi as good as confronting the PEOPLE, TOWN, ORISAS AND OLÓDÙMARÈ. Nobody will take such.risk because the repercussions are great.
10. All of these things we have willingly cooperated in their destruction.
