Redeemer is a church where both believers and skeptics can explore life's big questions and Christianity’s answers, where we can all work together for a thriving city, and serve those in need in the neighborhoods in which we live. We believe lasting renaissance necessitates a collaboration of new churches working together to make the Gospel accessible to all people, and to seek the peace and prosp

erity of the city in which we are called to serve. Redeemer is striving to build a church community committed to Loving God through Faithful Worship, Loving One Another through Authentic Community, and Loving Our City through Intentional Mission. We preach the Gospel faithfully according to Scripture, and we celebrate the Lord’s Supper weekly because the word rightly preached and the sacraments rightly administered are the means God uses to make disciples.

Introducing Evening Prayer

Beginning September 13, we’re introducing a new monthly service at Redeemer.

On the second Sunday evening of each month at 5:00 PM, we’ll gather for Evening Prayer—a quiet and reflective time to wonder at God and rest in his presence together as the Lord’s Day draws to a close.

The service will be under an hour, with a free soup dinner to follow.

Come join us as we end the Lord’s Day together in worship.

“Among CCM fans, there’s been a debate over who is “the next Rich Mullins.” Mullins had a way of expressing faith in a genuine manner that cut through the Christianese that plagued a lot of CCM songs. Since Mullins’ death, Andrew Peterson is often considered the bearer of his torch. While Peterson certainly takes inspiration from Mullins, he always felt like a “safer” version. Something about listening to Andy Squyres on Praise Songs made me wonder if he’s the current bearer of that hallowed mantle. His homespun approach to faith, doubt, and worship bypasses most of the ways Christians generally approach these topics, much like Rich Mullins. I highly doubt Squyres wants or even cares for such a title, but I think the consideration tells you what he brings to the table.” - John Underdown, Jesus Freak Hideout

Fall Kickoff at Redeemer Detroit

We’re kicking off a new season together on September 13th!

We’re excited to share two staff updates at Redeemer Detroit.

Abraham Vargas will transition to a full-time role as our Building Manager, and Grayson Jarvis will join staff as our new Director of Music.

Abraham has been part of Redeemer’s story from the beginning. Born in Traverse City and raised on Detroit’s east side, he helped plant Redeemer in Midtown in 2014 and has faithfully served in a variety of ministries ever since. With a background in the building trades and event management, we’re grateful for the many ways Abraham has already helped care for our church and building—and excited to have him serving in this new capacity. Abraham is married to Abigail, and they’re expecting their baby boy any day now.

Grayson is a classically trained composer and independent singer-songwriter who has been involved in church music ministry since high school. After he and his wife, Grace, began attending Redeemer in early 2025, Grayson felt called to volunteer with our music ministry. A graduate of Shenandoah University and the University of Michigan, he is excited to honor God and serve His people by facilitating excellent music in His church.

Please join us in celebrating Abraham and Grayson and praying for them as they step into these new roles! We’re thankful for their gifts, their faithfulness, and their desire to serve the church.

As fall approaches, we’re hoping to grow our Serving Teams. At Redeemer Detroit, we believe each and every member is equipped by God to serve the body of Christ. This can take shape in various ways throughout the week, and also on Sunday mornings.

We had such a great time at Kids Camp last week!

Thank you to every volunteer, parent, and supporter who helped make it such a fun and meaningful week. We loved learning about Jesus, making new friends, and creating memories together. We can’t wait for next year!

What does church planting actually look like?

It looks like pastors faithfully serving their communities.

It looks like neighbors hearing the good news of Jesus.

It looks like churches praying for one another, encouraging one another, and working together so that more people would come to know Christ.

In this video, you’ll hear from several pastors within The Detroit Project as they share their heart for Detroit, the hope of the gospel, and why church planting matters.
