Redeemer Presbyterian - Detroit

Redeemer Presbyterian - Detroit There is a true renaissance underway in the city of Detroit. Our Sunday worship services are vibrant, liturgical and participatory.

Redeemer is a church where both believers and skeptics can explore life's big questions and Christianity’s answers, where we can all work together for a thriving city, and serve those in need in the neighborhoods in which we live. We believe lasting renaissance necessitates a collaboration of new churches working together to make the Gospel accessible to all people, and to seek the peace and prosp

erity of the city in which we are called to serve. Redeemer is striving to build a church community committed to Loving God through Faithful Worship, Loving One Another through Authentic Community, and Loving Our City through Intentional Mission. We preach the Gospel faithfully according to Scripture, and we celebrate the Lord’s Supper weekly because the word rightly preached and the sacraments rightly administered are the means God uses to make disciples.

One of our reflections this week comes from J.I. Packer (1926-2020) and his best-selling book Knowing God.

“God’s faithfulness means that He will never let you go. It means that throughout your entire life—in every sorrow, every disappointment, and every valley of deep darkness—He is working out His perfect plan to conform you to the image of His Son. He has pledged Himself to your ultimate good, and He will not rest until He has brought you safely into His presence. You can trust Him when you cannot trace Him.” —J.I. Packer

This past Sunday, we gathered for food, fellowship, and fun at our annual church picnic.

Moments like these remind us that the church is more than a place we go—it’s a community we share life with. We’re grateful for everyone who joined us and helped make it such a nice afternoon.

One of the reflections from this past Sunday came from Corrie ten Boom (1892–1983), a Dutch Christian writer and speaker who helped hide Jews during World War II.

“If you look at the world, you’ll be distressed. If you look within, you’ll be depressed. If you look at God, you’ll be at rest.” — Corrie ten Boom

One of the reflections this past Sunday came from John Calvin, (1509-1564) a French theologian, pastor and reformer in Geneva during the Protestant Reformation.

“We must remember that Christ is not a king for a day or a year, but an eternal King who will never fail His people. Though the world be turned upside down, though kingdoms fall and families fracture, the throne of Christ remains unmoved.” - John Calvin
