Some people are teaching that you are Not actually Saved until you go under the water.
—That Faith Alone is Not enough. —That Baptism is the moment your sins are washed away.
🔥So let’s TEST that using the Whole Counsel of God Rightly Divided.
❌Not with Emotion.
❌Not with what we’ve been taught or Church Tradition.
📖But with Scripture Interpreting Scripture.
✝️First — What Actually Saves?✝️
The Bible is Not confusing about this.
📖 Ephesians 2:8–9
“For by Grace you have been Saved Through Faith, and that Not of yourselves; it is the Gift of God,
Not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
🔥Grace.
🔥Through Faith.
❌Not Works.
⚠️If Baptism is required in order to be Saved, then Salvation would Depend on a physical act performed by us.
✝️But Scripture says Salvation is a Gift — Received by Faith.
📖 Romans 10:9-13
“If you Confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and Believe in your heart that God has Raised Him from the dead, you will be Saved.
—For with the heart one Believes unto Righteousness, and with the mouth Confession is made unto Salvation.
—For the Scripture says, ‘Whoever Believes on Him will Not be put to shame.’
—For there is No distinction between Jew and Greek, for the Same Lord Over All is rich to All who Call upon Him.
—For ‘whoever Calls on the Name of the Lord shall be Saved.’”
🔥Believe.
🔥Confess.
🔥Saved.
It does Not say: “Believe, be baptized, then you will be Saved.”
✝️Faith is the Instrument.✝️
🔥 What About Acts 2:38?
This is the verse people run to.
📖”Repent and be baptized… for the remission of sins.”
👆Notice Something:
🔥The Command Starts with Repent.
❤️Repentance is a Heart issue.
❤️Repentance is Inward.
🔥Throughout the book of Acts, Repentance and Faith are Consistently Presented as the Saving Response.
💦Baptism Follows Repentance.💦
🔥It is the Public Declaration of what Already Happened Inside.
❓What About Acts 22:16?❓
“Arise and be Baptized, and wash away your sins, Calling on the Name of the Lord.”
Notice the phrase:
“Calling on the Name of the Lord.”
🔥Scripture repeatedly teaches that Calling on the Lord is What Saves.
📖 Romans 10:13
“Whoever Calls on the Name of the Lord shall be Saved.”
💦The Washing is Tied to the Appeal of Faith — Not magic water.
❌Water does Not Regenerate a heart.
🔥The Holy Spirit Does.🔥
❓What About Galatians?❓
“Yes but Galatians says we Put on Christ in Baptism.”
🔥Yes — and Romans says we are Baptized into His Death.
💦Baptism represents Union with Christ.
💦It is Identification.
💦It is a Picture.
⚠️It does Not mean the water itself performs the miracle.
🔥Let’s Test It Against Clear Examples
✝️The thief on the cross.
🔥He Believed.🔥
Jesus said, “Today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
❌No water.
❌No ceremony.
✝️Just FAITH.
If Baptism is absolutely required for salvation, then what do we do with this Scripture about the theif?
❗️The Order in Acts 10 Matters❗️
🔥Acts 10:34–43 – Cornelius Hears the Gospel
🔥Acts 10:43 – Belief in Jesus Brings Forgiveness
🔥Acts 10:44–46 – The Holy Spirit fell while they were Hearing
🔥Acts 10:47–48 – Then they were Baptized in water
Cornelius and his household:
• They Heard the Gospel
• They Believed
• They Received the Holy Spirit
💦Then they were Baptized.💦
🔥The Spirit fell Before water touched them.
❌That destroys the idea that water causes regeneration.
🔥The Holy Spirit Regenerates.🔥
💦Baptism Follows.💦
❓❓So What Is Baptism?❓❓
Baptism is Not the root.
🔥It is the Fruit.
🔥It is the Outward sign of the Inward reality.
🔥It is a Public Declaration:
“I have Died with Christ.”
“I have been Raised with Him.”
“My old life is Gone.”
✨It is Obedience.✨
✨It is Powerful.✨
✨It is Commanded.✨
❌But it is Not the mechanism of Salvation.
🔥Here’s the Real Issue🔥
⚠️If you say Baptism is Required for Salvation, you are Adding a physical Requirement to Grace.
❌And the moment you Add something to Grace, it is No longer Grace.
✝️Salvation is:
• By Grace.
• Through Faith.
• In Christ Alone.
❌Baptism does NOT Save you.
🔥It Testifies that you have Already Been Saved.
❌Water does Not regenerate the heart.
🔥The Holy Spirit Does.🔥
💦And Baptism is the Outward Sign of the Inward Work that He Already Did.
❓So What Actually Washes Away Sin?❓
📖Let Scripture answer.
🩸1 John 1:7
“The Blood of Jesus Christ His Son Cleanses us from All sin.”
🩸Revelation 1:5
“To Him Who Loved us and Washed us from our sins in His Own Blood.”
🩸Hebrews 9:14
“How much more shall the Blood of Christ… Cleanse your conscience from dead works to Serve the Living God?”
🩸Ephesians 1:7
“In Him we have Redemption Through His Blood, the Forgiveness of sins…”
📖Over and over again, Scripture is clear:
🩸It is the Blood that Cleanses.
🩸It is the Blood that Redeems.
🩸It is the Blood that Forgives.
🩸It is the Blood that Washes.
💦Water can wash dirt off the body.
🩸But Only the Blood of Jesus Cleanses the conscience.
🔥Only The Holy Spirit Regenerates the heart.
✝️Only Grace Saves.✝️
If Acts 2:38 or Acts 22:16 are interpreted to mean that water itself washes away sin, that interpretation Must Harmonize with the Rest of Scripture.
❌And the Rest of Scripture does Not say we are washed by water.
🩸It says we are Washed by His Blood.
💦Baptism is Beautiful.
💦Baptism is Commanded.
💦Baptism is Obedience.
But it is the Outward sign of the Inward reality.
🩸The water Represents what the Blood Already Accomplished.
❌We are Not Saved because we went under water.
🔥We go under water because we have Already Been Saved.
✝️Salvation is by Grace.
✝️Through Faith.
✝️In Christ Alone.
🩸And it is His Blood — Not water — that Washes us Clean.
📖John 14:6
“Jesus said to him, “I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father Except Through Me.”
📖 Acts 3:19
“Repent therefore and be Converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of Refreshing may come from the Presence of the Lord;”
📖 Romans 10:8–13
“But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach):
—that if you Confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and Believe in your heart that God has Raised Him from the dead, you will be Saved.
—For with the heart one Believes unto Righteousness, and with the mouth Confession is made unto Salvation.
—For the Scripture says, “Whoever Believes on Him will Not be put to shame.”
—For there is No distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.
—For “whoever Calls on the Name of the LORD shall be Saved.”
