We are so excited to start off 2021 with Feed Your Faith: Genesis! We know that 2020 was an extremely hard year for all of us in many different ways, but we want to start this new year on the strongest foundation we know, God and his word.

In the next four weeks we will be reading through the entire book of Genesis together! We will have a zoom call every morning at 8am to read through that day’s chapters and give some time for discussion.

There will be challenges and giveaways throughout the week too so make sure to follow if you haven’t already! We will be giving out gift cards and ESV study Bibles! You won’t want to miss this! It all starts TODAY! Visit this link for all of the details and links you will need for the next couple weeks!

Meet Anja Peters 👋🏿 a Freshman Nursing Major in the Honors College⠀⠀
What expectations, obstacles or fears did you have about Cru before coming? 🔸 "I was actually super excited when I first started getting to know CRU and the people in it, as I love meeting new people and hearing about new ideas and ways of life. and were the first people I talked with from CRU, and I really saw something of value with the work that CRU does. The rest is history you could say!"⠀⠀⠀
Why have you chosen to get involved with Cru? 🔸 "What I love about CRU are the people and their work in strengthening their relationship with God and helping those around them connect with God as well. These people are vibrant in their faith, welcoming, and truly kind-hearted. They have made me feel so at home in the midst of so much unrest and unease, and I’ve formed some beautiful friendships that I’m so thankful for! CRU is like a funnel of endless God-driven possibilities; they really are a family and I feel that wholeheartedly, although it’s my first year here!"⠀⠀⠀
What advice or encouragement would you give someone who is on the fence visiting or joining Cru? 🔸 "If you’re wondering if you should check out CRU or not, my advice to you is just try it! You can try anything and decide it’s not for you, but it’s good to put in the honest effort of exploring an option before closing the door."⠀⠀⠀
Thanks ! And welcome to the Cru 😉⠀⠀⠀

What expectations, obstacles or fears did you have about Cru before coming? 🔸 "I was apprehensive to attend concerned that I was going to be left out since I did not join until my sophomore year. However, everyone is so nice and welcoming. I feel very included and am extremely grateful for awesome people at UDM to grow in my faith with! I was also concerned that I was going to have restrictions because of my busy schedule. However, there are so many times and places to meet with Cru, so it is easy to access!"⠀⠀⠀
Why have you chosen to get involved with Cru? 🔸 "I love that Cru always has an uplifting atmosphere. Everyone is very encouraging and have a great deal of knowledge and perspectives to share! I feel like I can ask questions and learn a lot from others in Cru, along with growing in my faith. I have chosen to get involved with Cru because I feel like it was a piece of campus and my college life that I was missing until I joined."⠀⠀⠀
What advice or encouragement would you give someone who is on the fence visiting or joining Cru? 🔸 "I would encourage you to at least give it a try. Come to a bible study and you will see how amazing the atmosphere and community is at Cru. You will end up meeting some really cool people and grow in your faith! Especially in times of a pandemic, we need each other more than ever."⠀⠀⠀
Thanks ! And welcome to the Cru 😉⠀⠀⠀

What expectations, obstacles or fears did you have about Cru before coming? 🔸 "I expected and feared the inability to contribute to discussions about the Bible and certain stories."⠀⠀⠀
Why have you chosen to get involved with Cru? 🔸 "One of the things I like most about CRU is the environment. The environment is very welcoming and friendly. It is the perfect place to get out of your comfort zone, explore your faith, and meet amazing people. I have chosen to get involved in CRU to become more connected with my faith and learn about God. I could do this on my own and just attend church, but I wanted to go a step further and learn about my faith with the help from others trying to achieve the same goal."⠀⠀⠀
What advice or encouragement would you give someone who is on the fence visiting or joining Cru? 🔸 "For people who are hesitant to join CRU, don’t be! Everyone in CRU is welcoming and willing to help you learn about your faith. CRU also allows you to learn while having fun and making new friends. I was hesitant to join CRU, but I’m glad I did because I have not regretted joining and I am already learning new things about my faith and about myself."⠀⠀⠀
Thanks ! And welcome to the Cru 😉⠀⠀⠀

Advent serves 2 purposes in the Christian church. The most obvious is that it is meant to remind us of the first coming of Jesus Christ. God became flesh, lived a perfect life, and bore our sins while simultaneously conquering them and then ascended into heaven where He is seated. This first coming of Jesus is certainly worth rejoicing!

The second reason is worth rejoicing as well. We look forward to the arrival of Jesus again. Christ promised to return to usher in His kingdom. As we think about the Christmas season, let's remember Christ's first coming, but let us join with all creation in eager expectation of the second arrival of the King!
