It is reassuring to know there is a book of life for those who know and live for Jesus, but it is also troubling for those whose name is not in the book of life as Hell is real...

"And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death" (Revelation 20:12,13,14)

Thank you to all who prayed over the school board meeting this morning. Thank you to all the community members who were respectful and honoring to those addressing the school board during the public comment section of the meeting. The topic remains one of contention and disagreement, however I now ask for prayer for next week as students return to the classrooms in Detroit Lakes.

For those who are desiring to make a presence known outside of the school campuses next week, please keep in mind the consistent message from all the speakers this morning, we are speaking up in support of our students. Let us all pray for a great, welcome back to school, first day next week and that there will be kindness and support across all spectrum of viewpoints and beliefs.

As long as humanity has and does exists, there will always be disagreements and arguments, but humanity also carries grace and kindness. The discussion and arguement has been around for thousands of years, and we can learn from history. We do not have to agree, but we can be respectful and gracious to each other.

The ultimate motivation for us to pray and stand where we stand comes down to: what happens when the temporal life is confronted with an eternal life? Where do you go from there?

Jesus says in Matthew 7:22-23 " On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’"

Before responding, please read Matthew 7 on your own and lets have a discussion from there.

We just received this message from one of our missionaries in Ukraine, please be praying:

Pastor Trevor,

Greetings from Kyiv, Ukraine on a beautiful Monday afternoon.

Over the weekend, I went to central, Eastern Ukraine, the city of Kryvyi Rih and meeting with a group of pastors on Friday afternoon. I was asked to share an encouraging devotional as their city is often targeted by the invading military because the President of Ukraine grew up there and he still has a number of family members there. The youth of the church were scheduled to be at local mall, known for its huge indoor Kid’s World, play place. However, a couple of the parents felt something was off and asked the Pastor and Youth Director if they would cancel the outreach for the day. Hesitantly, they agreed. While I was having lunch with the pastors (following the devotional time) we heard a loud explosion and within moments all their phones were buzzing with texts and calls - the mall the teens were to have been at had just been struck by a drone and was burning. It was obvious there would be many injuries as it was a summer Friday afternoon and the Mall would have been full. We began praying, crying out to the Lord and a second drone hit (double tap to kill first responders) the same Mall.

I am grateful the weekend didn’t end there. I heard early Saturday morning the death toll stood at 21 and the number of injured was at 171… At noon Saturday, I was scheduled to help baptize 8 new believers - we decided we needed to move forward with that as an act of faith and trust in the Lord. When we finished the baptism, we had baptized not 8 people, but 13 - ranging in age from 10 - 83. Friday was dark and very difficult but the darkness can never overcome the Light! On Sunday we had three men come to repentance - The Kingdom of God moves forward even in difficult days/times. Sunday afternoon I had the privilege of preaching at the 30th anniversary of a church, in a small village called Red Field. During the message, I challenged them to not look back at their past too long but to quickly look forward again to reaching the remaining people in their village. Then the pastor challenged them that they should look beyond their village to the ends of the earth - “That none should perish but all come to repentance.” Praise be to God!!

Please pray for an end to this invasion. Pray that Ukraine can access the means to defend the skies from incoming rockets, missiles, drones and bombs falling from aircraft. Pray that the Church in Ukraine will stand strong in faith and trust and continue to look to the ripened fields all across the country and even beyond their borders. Pray for the families in Kryvyi Rih that have lost loved ones and have family who were injured in this latest attack on innocent civilians. Pray for Gayle and me to have the courage to continue walking forward in obedience to the Lord’s call on our lives and the wisdom to know when to take cover. Last week Thursday, overnight, within roughly a 7-kilometer circle of where we live 11 missiles struck various warehouses and apartment buildings.

Thanks for your encouragement and prayer support.

Brad

This is a call to pray...Monday, August 24th at 7am our city and school district will be facing one of the hardest, most opposing conflicts in recent years and we need to pray for God's intervention. God's Word is under attack again, which means our Heavenly Father is under attack and we need to stand for him. Please be praying each day this week, pray on Monday before the meeting. Pray during the meeting or if you are bold enough attend the meeting and intercede for those who are taking a stand for God's standards.
