When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream.
Then our mouth was filled with laughter and our tongue with shouts of joy;
then it was said among the nations, "The Lord has done great things for them."
The Lord has done great things for us, and we rejoiced.
~ Psalm 126:1-3

A PASTORAL NOTE FROM PASTOR BETH
Dear Congregational Church friends,
I write with the sad news that our dear Judy Dey has died, in the early morning hours of August 31. Those of you who were in church on Sunday will remember that we lifted Judy in our prayers as she had just been transported to Heather’s House Hospice in Fargo. While a short stay there was planned before her return to her home at Sunnyside Care Center, Judy and God had a different plan. Karen Rogsby and Julia Held were able to see Judy on Sunday and said that she was certainly at peace, not always responsive but very aware of their presence. Judy was declining food and water, a sign that she was ready for her great transition. We will miss Judy’s free spirit, her wonderful sense of humor, her ability to see the best in everyone, and her genuine interest in her family and friends and the world. Judy graced the world in long flowy skirts and a flowery sense of style which suited her so well.
While Judy’s family is handling all arrangements privately, with no public memorial planned, the church will offer a memorial service for Judy later in September. Jill Pawlowski has been a good friend to Judy and provided pastoral care during your interim minister years and she and Judy discussed a memorial service and Judy had many good ideas about a time to remember her. We will honor her wishes at a date to be determined.
Please join me in giving thanks for Judy’s beautiful and colorful life. I hold in prayer those of you who are grieving her death as well as Judy’s family and the staff at Sunnyside who provided care these last years.
God bless Judy Dey and God bless you,
Pastor Beth
