Dear Church Family,
This morning at the Destin Church of Christ, Gary Coburn explored one of the most powerful phrases in Scripture: “But God.” Throughout the Bible, those two words mark moments when God intervenes, changes outcomes, and brings hope where there was none. From Christ dying for sinners, to His resurrection, to the gift of salvation, Scripture repeatedly reminds us that our story would be hopeless apart from God’s grace. The lesson focused on how God takes what is broken and makes it beautiful through transformation, redemption, and restoration. Drawing from passages such as 2 Corinthians 3:18, 2 Corinthians 5:17, and Ezekiel 36:26, Gary emphasized that God gives believers a new identity, a new purpose, and a new heart. He reminded us that God sees potential rather than our past failures and continues shaping us like a potter molds clay. The sermon also included powerful modern examples of God’s work, including the testimony of a young woman protected in a devastating car accident and the remarkable story of Amber, who overcame addiction, arrests, and broken circumstances to become a successful professional and a living example of God’s transforming power. The message concluded with a reminder that God is still changing lives today and that no one is beyond the reach of His grace. Because of “But God,” there is always hope, restoration, and the promise that the old can pass away and the new can begin.
If you couldn’t attend in person this week, you can still participate in our worship by watching the eService online. Everything has been thoughtfully arranged into a YouTube playlist, which includes the sermon, prayers, and other recordings.
