What happens when we truly encounter God?

This Sunday, we begin a new series: "Encounters of the 3rd Kind" — a four-week journey exploring what happens when divine encounter becomes more than a moment and begins to reshape the way we live.

Sometimes the clearest evidence that we have encountered God is not what happened in the moment, but who we become afterward.

Yesterday, we celebrated Labor Day—a holiday born from the conviction that work has dignity, and so do the people who do it.

In Life School, Part 5, we turned to the prophet Zephaniah for an uncomfortable reminder: our work matters, what we build matters, and how we treat those who labor alongside us matters. However, none of those things can carry the full weight of our lives.

When everything we have worked to build proves unable to guarantee what comes next, our hope rests not simply in what we have managed to place in our own hands, but in the God whose hands we remain.

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

Most of us know the Golden Rule. But somewhere along the way, we developed an alternative:

“Do unto others as they have done unto you.”

We call it “matching energy.” 😬

In the final lesson of Life School, Romans 12:14–21 challenges us to consider what happens when someone else’s behavior gets the deciding vote in who we become.

What if maturity means learning to let them be responsible for them, let me be responsible for me, and let God handle what belongs to God?
