They are always pretending to be grown-ups—playing soldiers, playing shop. But all the time, they are hardening their muscles and sharpening their wits so that the pretence of being grown-up helps them to grow up in earnest.
Now, the moment you realise ‘Here I am, dressing up as Christ,’ it is extremely likely that you will see at once some way in which at that very moment the pretence could be made less of a pretence and more of a reality.

Paul is clearly saying that the rituals of the Jewish religion are mere shadows pointing towards Christ, but if you have Christ you need not worry about the shadows anymore. Whether I worship on Saturday or Sunday is unimportant. I should worship Jesus Christ every day. I do not observe Jewish festivals or worry about ceremonial clean or unclean foods. I have the reality. Once you have Jesus, shadows will never satisfy

How Complaining Shapes Your Brain

People who frequently complain may reinforce patterns of negativity in their brains. Research shows that each time we focus on problems or frustrations, the brain’s stress and threat-detection circuits are activated. Repeated activation strengthens these pathways through neuroplasticity, making the brain more likely to notice and react to negative events.

Over time, this can make minor issues feel more overwhelming, as the brain interprets everyday situations as stressful, Chronic complaining can contribute to higher tension, irritability, and a heightened stress response.

The good news: the brain is adaptable. By practicing positive language, focusing on solutions, gratitude, or learning, it’s possible to form new pathways that support calm, resilience, and clearer thinking. Essentially, the brain reinforces whatever patterns we repeat most often- so cultivating constructive habits can reshape how we respond to life.
