Music at St. Paul’s is a vital, self-sustaining component of the music ministry at St. Currently in its twenty-ninth season, this annual series of special services and musical events brings to St. Paul’s guest ensembles and artists who, through words and music, proclaim the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. This music series benefits the members of St. Paul’s and serves as an outreach to the Greate

r St. Louis community. In addition, Music at St. Paul’s sponsors the music for some of the festival services in the regular worship life of St. Paul’s congregation and provides enrichment for the overall music ministry of our parish. Our church pipe organ was built for St. Paul's by the Ott Organ Company of St. Louis. It is one of the largest tracker (completely mechanical) action organs in the area. The pipework was made in Goettingen, Germany. The organ has 33 ranks (sets) of pipes. The full completed organ has 1795 pipes controlled by 27 stops. The organ is 27 feet tall, 18 feet wide and 4 feet deep. It is constructed of American red oak. The manual keys are made of African rosewood.

Bach's monumental setting brings the Passion narrative from John's Gospel into sharp focus as we journey through Holy Week. This version features movements added and altered by Bach himself. Soloists, choir, and instrumentalists will be featured.

Join us tonight!

Music at St. Paul’s welcomes you to an evening with the Valparaiso University Chorale and Chamber Orchestra during the ensemble’s March tour.

The program brings together inspirational works by J. S. Bach, Felix Mendelssohn, Emma Lou Diemer, Palestrina, Philip Stopford, and Eric Whitacre. Highlights include two works for choir and orchestra — Bach’s 𝘋𝘦𝘳 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘳 𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘬𝘦𝘵 𝘢𝘯 𝘶𝘯𝘴, BWV 196, and Whitacre’s 𝘍𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘏𝘦𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘸 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘚𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘴. Valparaiso’s ensemble is led by Dr. Marin Jacobson and Dr. Diego Piedra, with Szu‑Ping Chang Wong serving as collaborative pianist.

The event is complimentary, with a freewill offering, and is open to the public.

By shimmering candlelight, the congregation will have opportunities to sing familiar Christmas hymns and carols of the season, with scripture readings and musical offerings by the choirs and instrumentalists of St. Paul’s.

Music at St. Paul's cordially invites you to Cantata Vespers with the American Kantorei chorus and orchestra.

The service of Evening Prayer will feature music from Cantatas 38 and 86, as well as the Mass in G Minor, BWV 235, by Johann Sebastian Bach.

The Kantorei, under the directorship of Dr. Maurice Boyer, specializes in the performance of J. S. Bach’s sacred choral works in the original German and Latin, accompanied by orchestra.
