This past weekend, Rev. Minna Bothwell traveled to Wartburg Theological Seminary for a meeting of the Board of Directors. While there, she had the joy of visiting CHLC seminarian Scott Magnuson and bringing him greetings from his church family!

During the Board meeting, Pastor Minna was also elected to serve as Chair of the Wartburg Theological Seminary Board of Directors beginning in January.

At CHLC, we believe deeply in the importance of faithful theological education and in raising up and supporting leaders who will serve the church and the world with courage, compassion, and a commitment to the Gospel. We are grateful for the seminaries and students who are faithfully preparing for the church’s future, and for Pastor Minna’s opportunity to support this important work of the wider church.

Last Sunday, we had the joy of hearing Ellie Taylor preach for the first time as Capitol Hill’s Intern Deacon! The congregation appreciated her fresh perspective on Matthew 22, one of the New Testament’s more confounding passages. Thank you, Ellie, for sharing your gifts and insights with our congregation!

Following Ellie’s sermon, we celebrated another special milestone: the installation of Andrea Schubert Davis as our Children’s Ministry Assistant! This was an opportunity not only to welcome Andrea into her new role, but also to recognize and thank her for nearly 5 years of dedicated service to CHLC’s youth program. As CHLC navigated the pandemic, Andrea helped support and sustain youth programming at Capitol Hill. Thanks to her presence, creativity, and dedication, we continued to offer robust youth programming!

If you see either of these wonderful individuals, be sure to congratulate them! We are grateful for the ways Ellie and Andrea share their gifts, talents, and passion in service to our congregation. It is people like them who make the Capitol Hill community such a special place to grow, learn, and serve together!
