Call me Mara

Naomi was feeling forgotten. “Do not call me Naomi...call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me”. There is bitter despair in being alone, abandoned, and feeling worthless. “Remember me.” Please God don’t ignore us because we are weak and fallen. Put us under your protection. Be concerned with us when we are sinking down low in the mire.
Dear God lift me out. Remove my guilt, fill my emptiness, and give me peace. We don't have to wade in the water of stirred up emotions. Be still! When the water is still the better to reflect on God's love and find peace. We can't remain in the life we made for ourselves. We need whole hearted trust in God to remove the bitterness. The Sacrifice of Jesus accomplished what we could never do. He took away the pollution that defiled us. Sin produces a slow form of torture. We can feel like we live in a condemned house where nothing works right. What if I am conscious of sin and brokenness? Jesus says, "Remember Me". God's eyes rest on the accomplished work of Christ for us. He accepts us not in ourselves, but in His Son. When not walking in the Spirit, we are in the flesh and have turned to the old man. We can block the fountain of the Water of Life when we are self centered and follow our own emotions. Better not to wade in bitter water so that we may be cleansed and healed. God has not forgotten us. We are the ones who wander away from Him and forget about Him. It happens when we become self centered. Our sin does not take God by surprise, He knows what we do and He makes allowances for it in His plan. He is in control. He teaches us to have no faith in the flesh and to exercise all of our faith in Christ so we are free to dwell/abide/and immerse ourselves in the Source of Love. God creates the circumstances that bring us back to Himself. He helps us to come to our senses where we see that in the flesh dwells no good thing.

We preach, as the Apostle Paul taught us, Christ and him crucified. To the Jews it is a stumbling block. To the gentiles it is foolishness.

To people today blinded by the god of this world, it isn't enough.

Here's the gospel truth.

On the Cross with Jesus

We all know about the thief who gets to Paradise without doing any works. He simply asks the Lord to remember him. It's not so much that he wants his past brought to Jesus' attention, he wants to be put under the Lord's protection. It is acknowledging that He is in control. Jesus asks the same of us. "Remember Me". We are to remember His acts and acknowledge Him as Lord. We give our life to Him and die to self. It's the recognition that our lives belong to Him. Jesus wants our minds to be occupied with Him. We are to be immersed in Him. The joy of salvation comes knowing that God's grace covers us.
The other guy says to the Lord, "Aren't you the Messiah? Save Yourself and us". Jesus was right in middle of the circumstances they were in. They were about to perish. Our natural life needs to die. We need to put ourselves under the Lord's protection. God's own heart is filled with joy when He sees us in Christ. Isn't that uplifting?!
In the present, we see our failures, disasters, despair, and death. Sometimes we need heavy blessings in contrast to the feelings of elation of God's unearned free gift. We can cast all of our cares upon the Lord and lean heavily into Him. He takes our sins upon Himself. We are to immerse ourselves in the love of God. In Christ, we experience the immense, unconditional, and all encompassing love of the Father that offers us security. Jesus leads us out of despair. He wraps us with Himself. We are secure knowing that we belong to Him.

And the lord of the vineyard said, “What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps they will respect him.” God owns the Vineyard. We are the current renters, under an agreement He offers. God offers us His Son. Some reject the Offering by relying on their own obedience. What is produced by self effort is rejected by the Owner. They choose not to submit to the Authority of the Lord and come under His Righteousness. They have been led into temptation by relying on the old nature. God given dominion is lost when the Son is rejected. When one yields to temptation, Satan becomes their ruler and master. He can pull our strings and keep us tied up in our own production while Christ is waiting for our companionship. Satan is a deceiver. He wants us to think that acceptance is earned by our performance. He likes to see us troubled and worried by many things. He can make us feel as if we are out of step all of the time. We can try to appear as if we have our act together, but we can become slaves to fear of failure. If we are not beating ourselves up for our mistakes, we are slapping ourselves on the back for our efforts. We can forget about the One who has been waiting for us. Choose the good part and listen to what Jesus has to say. Sin shall not be your master. You are not under law but under grace. You don't have to focus your attention on your performance. You are free to choose the Love that is waiting for you. God wants us to believe in His Son. Satan wants us to disobey God. Don't you realize that you can choose your own master? Only Jesus can reverse our failures and set prisoners free. That is what God has done for us through Jesus Christ. All of our sins were against us. The penalty was bo***ge to Satan as he kept us entangled in the performed trap. But, Jesus has disarmed Satan and He has taken him captive. We also have dominion over Satan when we walk in the Spirit. We come under Christ's Authority. He covers us with His Righteousness. Sin shall not have dominion over you...... It's not about our performance. It's not about us. It's about the will of God. God's will for us is that we believe in His Son. We are to convert from hope in the natural to total trust in God's goodness. We humble ourselves and seek forgiveness from God through the precious Blood of Christ and learn the lesson to find beauty and perfection in Christ alone and come to say, "I now know that in the flesh dwells no good thing". 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁 brings peace. There is inadequacy of the old nature. It never changes. For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

Beware of False Prophets. They are not walking in the Truth. There is no sense in listening to those who don't know Jesus. False teachers make a habit of sinning by relying on the flesh. They don't obey Jesus because they don't know Him. The Truth is not in them. Those who are unsure of their position in Christ are anxious and unsettled and tempted to pursue dead works.
There are many messengers who try to distract us from the Grace of God. They like to prey on the weak and insecure. The one who is insecure is tossed about by every wind of doctrine. Many are weighed down by sin and have not experienced forgiveness. They have not come to the realization of the Truth and they are searching for answers. They experience condemnation and hopelessness because their hearts are not set on the Lord Jesus. The mind set on the flesh is death. The mind set on the Spirit is life and peace and joy. God wants us to live in His Word. In Christ, we are secure, accepted, and loved. Yet, many are fastened to the seducer 's promises. Better to stick with the Truth and abide in the Lord Jesus. If you keep your mind fixed on Jesus, you will be kept calm and steady and at peace.
'Come, let us reason together". What can we reason from ourselves as to whether or not God accepts us?. God gives us the victory through the Lord Jesus. Everything is all there in Christ. Some may be very well pleased with the law of God and determined to keep it, but there is another principle warring within bringing them into captivity to the law of sin and death. There is no condemnation in Christ Jesus because the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus makes us free from the law of sin and death.
Many oppose the Message of Grace. We are warned about seducers who will try to lure us away from Christ. False teachers try to diminish the Cross by promoting legalism/licentiousness. Those who reject the life that Christ offers by living after the flesh are headed for destruction. They are disconnected from Christ. Jesus Christ is the embodiment of God's grace. Our bodies belong to the Lord. He offers us a beautiful life. It's not about laying down the law. We are called to be Christ's companions. He wants us to walk in His love and not in the world's degradation. Jesus wants to lift us out of our fallen state. God does not want us to fall from the heights of His good will for us. We need to accept 𝗚𝗼𝗱'𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘆 which is through Jesus and not self. We are 𝗡𝗢𝗧 equal to Him. We come under 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆. There must be a 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 from self effort to trusting God and being brought into the beautiful life He offers 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙃𝙞𝙨 𝙎𝙤𝙣. The Bride does not veil the Truth. She proclaims the Truth that God is Love and Christ is our Savior and He is Lord. God wants us firmly established in the Truth.

There is the true Messiah and there are false messiah's. True religion and false religion. True and false women; one is the Bride and one is the harlot.

God wants a faithful bride and not a harlot. One can play the harlot by relying on the old nature instead of God. He doesn't want us to turn our backs on Him. Don't put your trust in yourself. "But you trusted in your own beauty, played the harlot because of your fame, and poured out your harlotry on everyone passing by who would have it"......

God offers us an agreement and these are the terms: God takes all of our sins and liabilities upon Himself. He forgives all of our iniquities and remembers them no more. He take all of our self righteousness and gives us His own Righteousness which is pure and holy and acceptable. Many reject the Offer by relying on their own obedience. What we produce by self effort will be rejected by God.

There are many who cannot see their need. The moral condition of us all is corrupt whether we see it or not. It's a death like state. Jesus stands outside the church doors and knocks. Only He can heal and open the ears of the deaf and the eyes of the blind. He that has an ear listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. The Holy Spirit cannot guide us into perfection unless He has our whole heart. 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗹𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿.

God provides all that we need. He gave us His Son. We are called to be His companions. It is spiritual adultery to go back to relying on the old nature. Cursed is the man who makes flesh his strength. Because we are married to Christ we can give up working. Repentance from "dead works". Jesus took on the curse of the law so we could cross over from death to life. The curse of the law comes through efforts of legalism rather than obedience of faith. Thanks be to God we are declared righteous not based on what we do but who He is. Obedience is a gift of God. He works in us what is pleasing in His sight. God's will is that we believe in His Beloved Son. We choose to be submissive to His will. The Holy Spirit gives us the supernatural faith to believe that Jesus died for our sins and testifies that we are children of God. How may the Spirit be received? It will do no good to cry, "Lord, Lord" while having confidence in the flesh and depending on our own "good works". The Spirit is not received by legal works but by faith acceptance. Purchased by Christ's Blood. God gives the gift of the Holy Spirit to His Bride. There must be whole hearted confidence in God's love. He teaches us to have no faith in the flesh and to exercise all of our faith in Christ. He accepts us not in ourselves but in His Son. God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Justification is in Christ, not in ourselves.
God loves the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. Irritation comes from breaking away from Christ. "You have been loosed from Christ". "Christ is become of no effect". Turned to the bidding of false teachers. Turning back to the old husband and marriage to the law. By the nature of the law we are bound to be condemned. It causes turmoil within. There was nothing of mercy with the old husband. The law is harsh, stern, and heavy handed. Even Moses himself, the founder of the law, broke it just once and he lost the promised land. No mercy! Punishment for wrong and bringing forth death. The law not only represents the 10 Commandments but everything that is based on our own efforts and strength. Grace is about what God can do. For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law but under grace. In Christ, the love and mercy of God can be found. Jesus beheld us in our lifelessness and shame. He looked upon us compassionately. In intense and almighty mercy, Jesus lifts us to New Life. He raises us from the dead. He washes away our stains. He adorns us with His own beauty. He gives us His love. He makes us His wife. Jesus told the adulteress to sin no more. Going back to relying on the old nature is spiritual adultery.
