There’s something special about slowing down, sharing a cup of tea, and connecting with other women 🌸

It's not too late to sign up for our Women’s Tea & Bouquet Bar here in Des Moines happening on Saturday April 25th 😀💐

For $15, you’ll enjoy a cozy tea experience, meaningful conversation, and create your own spring bouquet to take home.

Come with a friend or come on your own—we promise you’ll feel right at home 💕

Join us in light of internal women's day to celebrate as a unified body!

Today we gathered to learn what the Bible says regarding spiritual gifts and building up the church body in unity. We were encouraged by how many decided to spend their Saturday learning together! Join us tomorrow at 10:30 to hear more about spiritual gifts 😃

Shout out to Tim & Wendy Sherrill for coming down from our sister church, Two Cities Church, to Des Moines to teach us 🥰

Romans 12:4-8 - "For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

“Church isn’t the building; it’s the people” and today we got a chance to live that out when the fire alarms went off during worship. Thankfully, we were able to go back in and finish the service after an extended impromptu time of fellowship ❤️ All we can say now is “Not today Satan!”

Praise be to God for the addition of Jordan to the fellowship of believer this last month 🎉🙌🏻

Tonight is our annual Thanksgiving midweek 🦃 And, if you don’t have plans, you’re invited to join us!

Several families also gave thanks together last Wednesday with Friendsgiving celebrations. We loved gathering together for a time of fun and deeper connection — and good food! ❤️

Our desire is to be unified, encouraged and pointed to the true reason we can always be thankful and filled with joy!

“Rejoice always, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Today, we want to encourage you to plug in to scripture, no matter where you’re at emotionally or physically.

God wants to spend time with you!

Don’t know where to start? Jesus’ words in the gospel (in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) are always a great starting point. ❤️

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” -Matthew 11:28-30

“We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” - Romans 6:4

This month is Pastor Appreciation Month, and we want to say a HUGE thank you to our lead pastor, Grayson Pulis. 👏🏻

God has used him powerfully over the last five years in Des Moines — starting as our campus pastor during COVID, transitioning to our interim pastor three years ago, and becoming our lead pastor two years ago.

God is working through Grayson to encourage and inspire our church, and we can’t wait to see how God continues to use him in the coming years. We love and appreciate you, Grayson! 🤍

May we as a congregation live out Hebrews 13:17 to make our pastor’s and other leaders’ work a joy:

“Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.”

We hope you're just as excited as Brooklyn is to come to church tomorrow! 😀🎉

We can't wait to worship God as a unified body and see what the Holy Spirit does 🙌

Our prayer is that you will join us in showing God gratitude for all he has done and that out of that joy, you come tomorrow excited to give back to God in worship ❤️

🌍 Simunye Weekend: “We Are One”

Once a year, our Des Moines congregation travels to Minneapolis to join our upper Midwest brothers and sisters in a powerful weekend of fellowship, learning, and worship. This special gathering is called Simunye Weekend – “Simunye” is Zulu for “We are one.”

Hosted by the upper-Midwest group of International Churches of Christ (ICOC), this event brings together:
• Des Moines Christian Church (Des Moines, IA)
• Two Cities Church (Minneapolis, MN)
• Twin Ports Church (Duluth, MN)
• Great Plains Church of Christ (Sioux City, SD)
• Chippewa Valley Church (Eau Claire, WI)

This year’s theme, Whispers and Wonders, invited us to collectively reflect on the dreams God has placed on our hearts – and remember that God dreams with us! We practiced listening to the Holy Spirit and prayed in multiple languages, including singing a congregational song in Spanish.

We kicked off the event on Saturday morning with a core leadership meeting and a time for sharing how God has been moving in each of our upper-Midwest churches. Then, we attended an afternoon, all-church sermon, and preteens and teens gathered to learn in their own classes. To wrap up our unifying weekend, we all gathered together for a Sunday worship service and potluck lunch.

Through shared prayer, teaching, and worship, God reminded us of his power to unify diverse congregations through his love, joy, and peace. We left feeling inspired to live boldly and share the gospel in our everyday lives.

📖 “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” - Psalm 133:1
