CBC Mission Ministry Joins Forces in Life-Changing Bicycle Outreach to Serve the Homeless Community

On Thursday, June 11th, CBC Mission Ministry took part in a vibrant bicycle ministry in Des Moines, bringing hope and nourishment to those in need at the city's main library and various homeless camps.

At Capitol Hill Lutheran Church, 511 Des Moines Street, volunteers packed bags with nourishing meals, refreshing drinks, and wholesome snacks. These care packages were then loaded onto bikes and cars, ready to be distributed to those who need them most.

This well-oiled operation relies on the generosity of volunteers to prepare and deliver these essential items every Thursday from 4:45-5 pm, hitting the streets by 6:30 pm.

FREE HEALTH SCREENING FOR DIABETES

On Saturday, June 13th, Iowa Diabetes will host a free health screening here at Corinthian from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM.

During this event, you can have your A1C checked and receive diabetes health education. Please note that fasting is not required for the free A1C testing. Since the screening involves a simple finger poke, it will provide an average result of your blood sugar levels over the last three months regardless of recent food intake.

Please stop by and feel free to bring a friend or family member with you.

CHANGE FOR CHANGE

Grab your nickels, dimes, and quarters for Change for Change!

The Mission Ministry will be collecting donations during the first Sunday service of each month to support a local cause.

To participate, you may drop off your change at the east entrance between 9:30 AM and 10:15 AM on the first Sunday of the month.

Donations can also be made through PushPay by selecting the "Change for Change" fund.

Your spare change can make a big difference in the lives of people right here in our metro community. We look forward to seeing the impact we can make together.

The event will take place on June 19th at Noon at the Grand View University Student Center, located at 2811 E 14th St., Des Moines, IA.

As Father's Day weekend approaches, we're excited to invite you to join us for our annual fish fry on Saturday, June 20th at 2:00 pm in the church parking lot.

For a donation of $10.00 per dinner, you can enjoy a delicious meal with family and friends, available for carryout only.

On Father's Day, June 21st, let's honor the men in our lives by dressing up in bow ties and vests, and don't forget your walking canes.

Men, we invite you to showcase your vocal talents with our special men's choir - rehearsals are scheduled for Thursday, June 18th at 6:30 pm and Saturday, June 20th immediately following men's ministry at 10:30 am.

Beginning June 7th, Sunday School will be combining adult classes in the Fellowship Hall during the summer months.

Youth classes, Pre-K through High School, will continue to have their usual classes.

Sunday School is each Sunday morning from 8:45am until 9:45am.

DIGITAL DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING

Are you a ministry leader here at Corinthian? Then your presence is requested for a “Digital Discipleship” training integrating care, growth, and technology in the local church.

The training will be held on June 27th from 11am until 2pm in the lecture hall of Mercy College and will be led by Dr. Dewayne Hawkins.

Attendees will need to bring $20 to cover the cost of books and refreshments.
