Church Family,

Thank you to everyone who participated in Week 2 of our Membership Intensive.

Last week we explored the question, “What does a church do?” Together we saw that the church is not merely a place we attend, but a people God has called together for a purpose.

Scripture teaches that the church exists to:

Worship God
Make disciples
Fellowship with one another
Serve those in need
Proclaim the gospel to the world

As we discussed, these are not separate ministries competing for our attention. They are all part of God’s design for His church and His people.

As you reflect on this week’s lesson, ask yourself:

Which of these purposes am I actively participating in?
Where might God be calling me to grow?

Next week we will move from the mission of the church to the role of the individual believer as we answer the question:

“What is a Church Member?”

If the church has a God-given mission, what does God expect from those who belong to it?

Pilate didn’t hate Jesus. He simply lacked the courage to act on what he knew was right.

Apathy can be just as dangerous as open rebellion. When conviction is replaced by comfort, compromise is never far behind.

Jesus is not looking for passive observers. He is calling faithful followers who will stand for truth when it matters most.

Far fewer can explain what God actually expects His church to do.

This Sunday we’ll explore the biblical mission of the local church and why God has called His people together for:

✅ Mission

The church is more than a Sunday gathering. It is God’s instrument for making disciples and advancing the gospel.

Following Jesus will eventually cost you something.

Peter stayed close enough to watch Jesus… but far enough away to protect his comfort, reputation, and safety.

The danger for many Christians is not open rejection of Christ.
It is slowly warming ourselves at the enemy’s fire while convincing ourselves we are still faithful.

Truth matters more than comfort.
Jesus matters more than reputation.
Faithfulness matters more than safety.

📣 Membership Intensive Begins This Week

Over the next four weeks at The Well, we will be walking together through our new Membership Intensive during the Connections Group hour.

This is about much more than “joining a church.” Together we’ll explore:
• What the Church actually is
• Why membership matters
• What God calls His people to do together
• How we faithfully live as part of Christ’s body

Whether you are already a member, considering membership, or simply wanting to grow in your understanding of the church, this class is for you.

As we continue building the discipleship culture and future direction of The Well, I truly believe these next four weeks are important for the health and unity of our church.

The cross was not an emotional reaction.
