One Council that has been a champion for the Culture of Life fund for the Iowa Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation is Council #780 in Carroll. As one of the largest councils for the Iowa Knights of Columbus they have donated over $100,000 to the Foundation. This has helped us support many smaller councils that have led efforts to provide ultrasound machines to their local Pregnancy Crisis Center.

Well, in addition to all their support, they were fundamental to launch New Creation Pregnancy Resource Center in Carroll, IA who also received a matching grant from the Foundation and the Knights of Columbus Supreme Office. Your council's donation of $500 turns into $1,100 for the Center, via the ASAP Program.

One of the first Pregnancy Crisis Center benefited by the $500 match on the Iowa Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation in the 2025-2026 Fraternal year is Alternatives Pregnancy Center.

Council #11192 of the Iowa Knights of Columbus in Queen of Peace Parish Parroquia Reina de la Paz in Waterloo, IA led this donation.

As your council provides $500 in assistance (it can actually be either cash or physical donations such as diapers, baby clothes, baby furniture), the Supreme Office will donate and additional $100 in cash. If the center has not already received a matching check by the Foundation and we have not reached our cap of $10,000 this year, we will mail them an additional $500 check. Your $500 become $1,100

The Aid and Support After Pregnancy program was started by Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly in 2021. The goal is to support crisis pregnancy centers after the baby is born.

When a local council of the Iowa Knights of Columbus donates $500 to a crisis pregnancy center that is coherent with Catholic principles, the Supreme Council donates an additional $100 to the center (capped at a $2,000 donation, $400 match).

Since its inception, the Iowa Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation has matched with $500 the first 20 donations in the Fraternal year from councils to crisis pregnancy centers in the state. As of today, that translates into over $40,000 of matching funds.

So far in the 2025-2026 we have matched 14 donations from councils to local pregnancy centers. We still have 6 more donations to fulfill so make sure that your $500 donation turns into $1,100 via matches from the Supreme Council of the Knights of Columbus and the Iowa Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation.

If you want to support our cause, shoot us an email to [email protected] or send us a message via this page.

Every dollar to the Culture of Life fund helps us keep those matching dollars going to the centers that are at the front end of the battle for life.

The Knights of Columbus is proud to support a variety of pro-life initiatives: Faith in Action Programs, Charity, and Community support are in the forefront.

August 13 is the feast of Blessed Michael J. McGivney, American diocesan priest, founder of the Knights of Columbus.

Born in an Irish immigrant family in Waterury, CT being the oldest of 13 children, six of whom died in early infancy. He entered the seminary in 1868 at the age of 16. Five years later, he left the seminary to help raise his family after his father's death. He was able to return to the seminary and was ordained December 22, 1877 in Baltimore, MD. Based on his own experience with the impact to family's with the passing of the main wage provider, he founded the Knights of Columbus as a mutual aid society to provide financial assistance to widows and orphans. Today, the Knights of Coumbus have 2.1 million members in 13 countries and it is the largest Catholic fraternal lay organization in the world. Father McGivney was beatified on October 31, 2020 at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hatford, CT.

Let us pray to Blessed Michael J. McGivney so we are protectors of our families and that our zeal for service may be the reflection for his caring to the needy, the outcast, and the migrants.

Blessed Michael McGivney, pray for us. Vivat Jesus!
