Searching for a church home?

At Grace, you don’t have to have it all figured out. Bring your questions, your doubts, your hopes, and your story.

We’re building a community where people can grow in faith, form meaningful relationships, and discover what it means to be loved exactly as they are.

Join us this Sunday at 10:15 AM. We’d love to meet you.

What an incredible PrideFest weekend! 🌈

From worship at the Ecumenical Pride Service, to conversations at our booth, to walking together in the Pride Parade, we were reminded again and again that God’s love is for everyone.

Thank you to every volunteer, every person who stopped by, and everyone who helped Grace show up with joy, welcome, and love.

We are grateful to be part of this community and to share the good news that all people are beloved children of God.

As the 2026 session of the Iowa Annual Conference comes to a close, we at Grace United Methodist Church have much to celebrate and much to carry forward into the work ahead.

One of the great blessings of this conference was the passage of legislation authored by our pastor, Rev. Dr. Gregory S. Neal, calling the Iowa Conference to oppose conversion and reparative therapy. The resolution passed by an overwhelming 87%. As a survivor of conversion therapy, Dr. Greg has spoken openly about the spiritual, emotional, and psychological harm caused by these practices. This vote is a powerful witness that the church can and must stand against spiritual abuse and harm, especially when it is done in the name of God.

We also celebrate the completion of elections for the 2028 General and Jurisdictional Conferences. Dr. Greg was elected as a clergy reserve delegate to Jurisdictional Conference, and his husband, Kade Rogers, was elected as the first lay delegate to Jurisdictional Conference, which also makes him the first lay reserve delegate to General Conference. We are grateful for the trust placed in both of them and celebrate their continued leadership in the Iowa Conference and the wider United Methodist Church.

And finally, we are delighted to celebrate that Dr. Greg has been appointed back to Grace United Methodist Church in Des Moines, Iowa, for a fourth year! We are grateful for his ministry among us and look forward to what this new year has in store for Grace.

There is much to be done as we continue making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

A reminder that Grace UMC will not hold regular worship at the church this morning.

Instead, we invite you to join us at 10:00 AM for the Capital City PrideFest Worship Service at the Iowa IV Main Stage in downtown Des Moines. Dr. Greg Neal will be one of the featured preachers, and many members of Grace will be participating in this special celebration of faith and inclusion.

If you are unable to join us downtown, we will be livestreaming the service in the Grace sanctuary so you can still worship with us.

After worship, stick around and join us in the Capital City Pride Parade beginning at Noon!

We can’t wait to worship with you and celebrate God’s love for all people today. ❤️🏳️‍🌈

There is still time to join Grace at Capital City Pride this weekend! 🌈

We would love for you to be part of this important weekend of worship, community, welcome, and celebration. There are several ways to get involved:

You can help staff the Grace booth during PrideFest, walk with Grace in the Pride Parade, ride the church bus downtown, or join us for the Ecumenical Pride Worship Service on Sunday morning before the parade.

This is one of the most visible ways Grace gets to show our community who we are: a church where all people are loved, welcomed, affirmed, and celebrated.

Whether you can serve for a shift, walk with us, worship with us, or simply stop by and say hello, we would love to have you there.

You can find all the details and sign-up links on our Pride Hub. We’ll put the link in the comments below.
