Close your eyes and you can almost smell it...
The warm scent of fresh lefse as it's lifted from the griddle and spread with a generous layer of butter. Fresh waffles with crisp edges and warm toppings. Creamy rømmegrøt sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Rice pudding that tastes like Christmas at Grandma's. Rich bread pudding, hearty potato klub, delicate rosettes dusted with powdered sugar... and so much more.
There is something magical about a festival where the food isn't just something you eat, it tells a story.
In Scandinavian culture, food has always been about gathering and slowing down. It's about welcoming neighbors to the table and recipes passed from one generation to the next. And yes, about never being shy with the butter. Around here, butter isn't just an ingredient, it's practically a love language.
Scandinavians have always been travelers, traders, and explorers, bringing home new ideas and flavors from around the world. So while you'll find traditional Nordic favorites, you'll also discover delicious gyros, baklava, cheese triangles, pizza, and other festival treats. After all, good food has a way of bringing everyone together, no matter where they call home.
Very soon, the halls of the Auditorium will be filled with the comforting smells of heritage and tradition. Conversations will happen over shared tables, children will discover new favorites, and old traditions will find new life.
We're counting down the days until those wonderful aromas fill the halls of Fjord Folk Fest.
