In some of the places I have sought help for alcoholism, I heard people say that we suffer from terminal uniqueness. I understand that means if we think we are too different we might not be able to relate to and identify with the experiences of others.
But we are unique in a good way too. The Bible says we are a peculiar people which means each believer is God's unique possession. We belong to Him and each one of us is special and important to God. He loves you. You're a child of the most high God.

Addicts and alcoholics often struggle with fear. The Bible says that God does not give us a spirit of fear but of power and love and of a sound mind. Jesus told his disciples to not let their hearts be troubled. He said He was sending another comforter. Through the power of the Holy Spirit we can turn our fear into faith.
