Beauregard Parish Spring Garden Forum
Saturday, February 11, 8 am – 1 pm, War Memorial Civic Center, 250 W 7th St, DeRidder, LA 70634
The Beauregard Master Gardeners present their Annual Garden Forum in anticipation of the 2023 spring growing season. Topics include:
• School Gardening, Ms. Beth Thomas & Junior Master Gardeners from Rosepine Elementary School
• Improving Garden Soil Naturally, Mr. George Giltner & Mr. Kirk Gillard, Beauregard MGs
• Container Gardening, Ms. Elaine Hicks, Cenla MG
• Landscaping for Wildlife, CC Richmond, LA Dept. Wildlife & Fisheries
• Wind Resistance Trees: Planting & Care, James Burnett, Jr., Beauregard MG

Zoo Zoo’s Baked Potatoes and More food truck will be available in the parking lot for our attendees, and you are welcome to bring your food purchases into the Civic Center.

We have Fall vegetable plants, herbs, flowers and some specialty plants.
Most plants are $1-$4.

Deridder LSUAGCENTER office temporary closure/relocation
The AgCenter office building is being repurposed by the Police Jury. This has been their plan for awhile. The plan has been to relocate the office into the old First Baptist gym once renovations are completed. That work appears to be significantly behind schedule and for reasons I am not aware of the Police Jury has to move forward with changing the occupancy of the current office.
While Keith is trying to find a suitable temporary location, we could certainly use help boxing materials and moving them to storage. Also there are several indoor potted plants that need foster care during the transition.
Communication with Keith is going to be best via email and text until things settle.
The LSUAGCENTER is grateful for the historical support of all Beauregard Parish governmental bodies and especially the Police Jury. We look forward to a new and hopefully larger presence in the local community at the end of this.
Please consider respectfully reaching out to thank your local officials for their support in finding a new location. Let them know of the personal value you find in your association with the LSUAGCENTER and its representatives.

Come join us this Saturday for Plant / Bake Sale. We are celebrating Gardening and gathering again. The monies generated will go toward funding our new garden and greenhouse activities in Deridder as we work to share the gardening experience in the community.

Some folks have been asking about the 2021 LSU Agcenter Get Growing Calendars.
John Markham has already made the annual order and it should be here shortly. Due to postal deliveries running behind, we are not certain they will arrive prior to Christmas but will let you know as soon as they are available.
