Tyler and Abby Rea are originally from West Texas and have lived all over the southern United States throughout their six years of marriage because of Tyler’s previous job in Industrial Automation. They have two boys, Calvin and John Bryer (J.B.). Abby was raised in the Church, while Tyler is a relatively new Christian. After a long battle with addiction, Tyler converted in November 2023. Through his conversion, he developed a passion for the Word of God and a desire to share it with others.
In August 2024, shortly after moving to Nashville, Tennessee, Tyler attended PTP in Sevierville, where he met Wayne Jones at the BVBI booth. After visiting the school in November 2024, Tyler and Abby decided to leave their new lives in Tennessee for the adventure of a lifetime in Denver, Colorado.
What stood out most to the Reas about Bear Valley was the love for Christ, made evident in the love for people and their souls. They describe it as a place where studying the Word does not feel like a chore, but a privilege, and where they have learned the purest meaning of the words, “Family in Christ.”
During their first year at BVBI, the Rea family experienced many hardships that tested their faith and resolve. From Calvin’s autism diagnosis in November 2025 to J.B.’s burn accident in March 2026, they have shared that they never once felt alone throughout the process. While the classroom has been a vital part of their learning at BVBI, they say the true growth has been evident in how the school has equipped them to put their faith into action while facing trials (James 1:2–4).
Despite these challenges, BVBI, through the enriching study of God’s Word, continues to transform them as individuals, strengthen their marriage, and shape them as parents. They have been tremendously blessed not only by the work, love, and care of the school, but also by the Bear Valley congregation, which welcomed them with open arms and embraced their family. The only thing they would change, they say, is wishing the program lasted longer than two years. They are incredibly thankful to be part of the Bear Valley family.
