Pastor’s Devotional Thought for this Week / Sabbath .
To Be Like Jesus
The Sabbath Not Jewish but Christ’s Holy Day, May 30
o He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. Luke 4:16, NKJV.
How can we account for the observance of the first day of the week by the majority of professed Christians, when the Bible presents no authority for this change either in the precepts or in the example of Christ or His followers? We can account for it in the fact that the world has followed the traditions of human beings instead of a “Thus saith the Lord.” This has been the work that Satan has always sought to accomplish—lead people away from the commandments of God to the veneration and obedience of the traditions of the world. Through human instrumentalities he has cast contempt upon the Sabbath of Jehovah, and has stigmatized it as “the old Jewish Sabbath.”
Thousands have thoughtlessly echoed this reproach, as though it were something to which was attached great weight of argument; but they have lost sight of the fact that the Jewish people were especially chosen of God as the guardians of His truth, the keepers of His law, the depositary of His sacred oracles. They received the lively oracles to give unto us. The Old and New Testaments both came through the Jews to us. Every promise in the Bible, every ray of light which has shone upon us from the Word of God, has come through the Jewish nation.
Christ was the leader of the Hebrews as they marched from Egypt to Canaan. In union with the Father, Christ proclaimed the law amid the thunders of Sinai to the Jews, and when He appeared on earth as a man, He came as a descendant of Abraham. Shall we use the same argument concerning the Bible and Christ, and reject them as Jewish, as is done in rejecting the Sabbath of the Lord our God? The Sabbath institution is as closely identified with the Jews as is the Bible, and there is the same reason for the rejection of one as of the other. But the Sabbath is not Jewish in its origin. It was instituted in Eden before there were such a people known as the Jews. The Sabbath was made for all humanity, and was instituted in Eden before the fall of Adam and Eve. The Creator called it “my holy day.” Christ announced Himself as the “Lord ... of the sabbath.” Beginning with creation, it is as old as the human race, and having been made for human beings it will exist as long as they shall exist.—The Signs of the Times, November 12, 1894. . Pastor’s Devotional Thought for this Week/Sabbath :

Counsels On Health -Religion And Health
Christian Temperance and Bible Hygiene, 13, 14 (1890).]
The view held by some that spirituality is a detriment to health, is the sophistry of Satan. The religion of the Bible is not detrimental to the health of either body or mind. The influence of the Spirit of God is the very best medicine for disease. Heaven is all health; and the more deeply heavenly influences are realized, the more sure will be the recovery of the believing invalid. The true principles of Christianity open before all a source of inestimable happiness. Religion is a continual wellspring, from which the Christian can drink at will and never exhaust the fountain.

The relation which exists between the mind and the body is very intimate. When one is affected, the other sympathizes. The condition of the mind affects the health of the physical system. If the mind is free and happy, from a consciousness of rightdoing and a sense of satisfaction in causing happiness to others, it creates a cheerfulness that will react upon the whole system, causing a freer circulation of the blood and a toning up of the entire body. The blessing of God is a healing power, and those who are abundant in benefiting others will realize that wondrous blessing in both heart and life.

When men who have indulged in wrong habits and sinful practices yield to the power of divine truth, the application of that truth to the heart revives the moral powers, which had seemed to be paralyzed. The receiver possesses stronger, clearer understanding than before he riveted his soul to the eternal Rock. Even his physical health improves by the realization of his security in Christ. The special blessing of God resting upon the receiver is of itself health and strength.

Those who walk in the path of wisdom and holiness find that “godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.” 1 Timothy 4:8. They are alive to the enjoyment of life’s real pleasures, and are not troubled with vain regrets over misspent hours, nor with gloomy forebodings, as the worldling too often is when not diverted by some exciting amusement. Godliness does not conflict with the laws of health, but is in harmony with them. The fear of the Lord is the foundation of all real prosperity. . CH 28-CH 29.1

Counsel On Diet And Foods
Chapter 4-Proper Dietary
Part 1—The Original Diet
Chosen by the Creator
111. In order to know what are the best foods, we must study God’s original plan for man’s diet. He who created man and who understands his needs appointed Adam his food. “Behold,” He said, “I have given you every herb yielding seed, … and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for food.” Upon leaving Eden to gain his livelihood by tilling the earth under the curse of sin, man received permission to eat also “the herb of the field.”
Grains, fruits, nuts, and vegetables constitute the diet chosen for us by our Creator. These foods, prepared in as simple and natural a manner as possible, are the most healthful and nourishing. They impart a strength, a power of endurance, and a vigor of intellect, that are not afforded by a more complex and stimulating diet.—The Ministry of Healing, 295, 296, 1905.
112. God gave our first parents the food He designed that the race should eat. It was contrary to His plan to have the life of any creature taken. There was to be no death in Eden. The fruit of the trees in the garden, was the food man’s wants required.—Spiritual Gifts 4a:120, 1864

A Call to Return
113. The Lord intends to bring His people back to live upon simple fruits, vegetables, and grains.... God provided fruit in its natural state for our first parents.—Extracts from Unpublished Testimonies in Regard to Flesh Foods, 5, 6, 1890.
114. God is working in behalf of His people. He does not desire them to be without resources. He is bringing them back to the diet originally given to man. Their diet is to consist of the foods made from the materials He has provided. The materials principally used in these foods will be fruits and grains and nuts, but various roots will also be used.—Testimonies for the Church 7:125, 126, 1902

Devotional Thought for this Week/Sabbath

The Great Hope by Ellen G White – The Law of Liberty
Many religious teachers assert that Christ by His death abolished the law. Some represent it as a grievous yoke, and in contrast to the “bondage” of the law they present the “liberty” to be enjoyed under the gospel.
But not so did prophets and apostles regard the holy law of God. Said David: “I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.” Psalm 119:45. The apostle James refers to the Decalogue as “the perfect law of liberty.” James 1:25. The Revelator pronounces a blessing upon them “that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” Revelation 22:14.
Had it been possible for the law to be changed or set aside, Christ need not have died to save man from the penalty of sin. The Son of God came to “magnify the law, and make it honorable.” Isaiah 42:21. He said: “Think not that I am come to destroy the law”; “till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law.” Concerning Himself He declared: “I delight to do thy will, O my God; yea, thy law is within my heart.” Matthew 5:17, 18; Psalm 40:8.
The law of God is unchangeable, a revelation of the character of its Author. God is love, and His law is love. “Love is the fulfilling of the law.” Says the psalmist: “Thy law is the truth”; “all thy commandments are righteousness.” Paul declares: “The law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.” Romans 13:10; Psalm 119:142, 172; Romans 7:12. Such a law must be as enduring as its Author.
It is the work of conversion and sanctification to reconcile men to God by bringing them into accord with the principles of His law. In the beginning, man was in perfect harmony with the law of God. But sin alienated him from his Maker. His heart was at war with God’s law. “The carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” Romans 8:7. But “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,” that man might be reconciled to God, restored to harmony with his Maker. This change is the new birth, without which “he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:16, 3. . GrH_c 25.3-GrH_c 25.7

Devotional Thought for this Week/Sabbath

The Bible hides nothing. Abraham committed adultery the Bible tells us, David committed adultery the Bible tells us. The Bible explains everything to let us know that the characters finally overcame. In the line of Jesus genealogy there was a pr******te what is the name of that pr******te? Rahab(Joshua 2:1), in the genealogy of Jesus there was a Moabite who practiced false religion what is the name of that Moabite? Ruth. So, we have all these weaknesses. But remember a weakness should not be an excuse to sin. The Bible says in Roman 5:20 But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more. Because grace is a power of God but sin a power of Satan. Tell me who is powerful God or Satan? When Satan wanted to tempt Job, Satan had to seek permission from God and when God told Satan you can do this, you cannot do this. And when God restricted him, he could not go beyond that boundary always remember that. Let me digress a bit, always remember this also, when God told Satan behold in his hand, all that he has in his hand. How quickly did job lose everything? In one day. It is because of the mercies of God that Satan doesn’t destroy our lives in one day(Great is thy faithfulness song 100). He wants to destroy lives as quickly as possible, when he was given permission to destroy Satan destroyed in a day. Why because the devil know he has a short or limited time.
Lets us go back to our subject. Adam’s big mistake was putting a family member a head of God. The Bible does not hide anything. We step outside the gate of the garden of Eden, we have a murder, who killed who? A brother killed a brother. because one brother was doing what was right and the other brother didn’t like it. We leave the garden of Eden and we go thousands of years to 1 john 3:11-12 For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, 12 not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother’s righteous.
