On Sunday 11/20 at 6:30pm, at the Central Presbyterian Church (1660 Sherman St, Denver, CO 80203), the home of the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra, our friend Brian Billion, pianist and composer, will perform a piano concert in honor of Fr. Giussani.
The concert is open to everyone (kids 12+) and free-of-charge. Please, RSVP at: giussani100.eventbrite.com Donations are welcome.
The flyer below has all the information. Invite others! It could be an occasion to introduce Fr. Giussani to coworkers, families, and friends. This is an occasion to be educated one more time by Fr. Giussani's fatherly presence, according to the following words:
"In music, it is something else that man pays homage, from which he expects something: he awaits it. His enthusiasm is for something that music has awakened with him."
These are the words that Fr. Giussani wanted to use to introduce every CD of Spirto Gentil, an extremely successful classical music recordings initiative launched in the spring of 1997, directed by Fr. Giussani himself.
"It was the late nineties, and the market for classical music was rapidly dwindling, with each album selling less than a thousand copies on average. When these statistics were relayed to Giussani he nearly cried; for him it was another sign of the impoverishment of people’s lives and the extent of the insensitivity and lack of education society had reached. Who suggested beautiful things to listen to anymore, he wondered aloud." (From "The Life of Luigi Giussani")
