One more thing.... Well, that "one more thing" may just push you over the edge. Clint Eastwood once said, "A man's got to know his limitations." We all have limitations. So, if we keep speeding up our pace and adding things to our schedule we will eventually sputter and run out of gas. If your schedule is full... then every time to you say "yes" to one thing you are saying "no" to another. Redeem the time

What happens to your soul when more life is flowing out than is flowing in?

For Leaders -

"I tell you the solemn truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains by itself alone. But if it dies, it produces much grain." John 12:24 (NET)

We all want to succeed. We want to produce, grow, expand, move upward and forward. We want our lives to "produce fruit" or a "great harvest".

BUT, we don't want to die to do it!

There is a kind of death that precedes real life and growth. Jesus calls us to come and die - die to the world, die to self, die to personal ambition, die to self-reliance and self-confidence... So that we might come alive to Him and all that He can do in us and through us - bringing a harvest beyond imagination.

There is a lid on your leadership capacity. There is no lid on God. There is no limit on what He can do and what harvest He can bring. Also, there is no lasting success apart from Him.

The best posture for a leader is on His knees before God in prayer - alive to Him and dead to all else.

For the sake of His name,
Matt

For Leaders -

"In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there." Mark 1:35 (NASB95)

He was always praying. It is the most consistent and predictable habit of Christ's life on earth - and yet it was a constant frustration to those who followed Him.

As leaders, we are drawn to getting things done and it is hard for us to be still. As we develop strengths and abilities, we tend to lose our dependency on God. And so, we pray a little here and there - often by rote and without much thought.

Jesus would spend hours, sometimes all night, in prayer. His greatest joy was being alone with his Father, and it fueled him for everything he had to do. If prayer was the most significant part of His day, how much more it should be for us!

The greatest work is on our knees. This is how I want to start my year. This is where I want to grow. This is how I want to lead. How about you? The world has seen enough of what we can do - they need to see what God can do!

For the sake of His name,
Matt

We begin a new year - 2024, knowing that,
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." And that "The fear of the Lord is [our] treasure." (Proverbs 3, and Isaiah 33). What is the fear of the Lord but the "Reverential Awe" of All that He is. Your view of God is the most important thing about you - for how you view God will determine how you view yourself and everything else in life. He is the only one who is rightly "Awesome". Have a blessed new year!!
