This photo was taken during Archbishop Emeritus Samuel J. Aquila's time as a parochial vicar at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church — just a few years after his priestly ordination.

We're grateful for his faithful “yes” to God and his service to the Church!

Join us June 5 at 4 p.m. at the John Paul II Center as we celebrate Archbishop Aquila's golden jubilee with Mass, fellowship, free food, and a joyful community celebration. All are welcome!

If you are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith or simply have questions, we invite you to Come & See. The first event in this series will be Wednesday, May 27, 6-7 pm around the fire on the patio at Christ the King (830 Elm Street, Denver, CO 80220).

This event is intended for non-Catholics or non-practicing Catholics. Just come as you are and bring your questions!

As Jesus ascended into Heaven, he entrusted his disciples with the mission to proclaim the Gospel to all nations. The Ascension reminds us that Christ is always with His Church, guiding us in faith and calling us to live as witnesses to His love and truth.

After Jesus’ Ascension, the Apostles chose Matthias to fill the place left vacant by Judas. Having followed Christ throughout his ministry, St. Matthias boldly helped spread the Good News of Jesus.
