A Prayer for Labor Day
God of justice, compassion, and peace,
On this Labor Day, we give thanks for the work of human hands and minds and for all whose labor serves our communities. We pray especially for those whose work is overlooked or undervalued, for those struggling to make ends meet, for those seeking employment, and for all who long for dignity, fairness, rest, and security.
As we look beyond our own communities, our hearts are with neighbors facing war and violence, migrants and refugees seeking safety, and communities recovering from fires, floods, storms, and other disasters. Give strength to those who respond, including our partners through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, and make us generous companions to those who suffer.
As the PC(USA) enters a Season of Peace and marks the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, remind us that our faith calls us not simply to pray for a better world, but to participate in building one.
May our work, our rest, our resources, and our witness reflect the love of Jesus Christ and your desire for justice, peace, and abundant life for all.
Amen.
