LET US JOIN OUR HEARTS AND MINDS IN PRAYER

Gracious and Loving God,

We give thanks for the ministries of Capitol Heights Presbyterian Church. Bless their members, volunteers, Clerk of Session, and their pastor, Rev. Mark Meeks, as they serve their community with faith, compassion, and hope. Strengthen their witness and guide them in the work you have called them to do.

We pray for our siblings in Christ at Mhondoro Presbyterian Church and throughout the Presbytery of Zimbabwe. Across oceans and continents, unite us in your love and mission. Sustain their ministry and deepen the bonds of partnership that connect us as one body in Christ.

During Pride Month, we celebrate the rich diversity of your beloved children. We give thanks for the work of the Advocacy Committee for LGBTQIA+ Equity and for all who seek to ensure that every person is welcomed, valued, and affirmed within your church. Bless those from Denver Presbytery who will volunteer and offer hospitality during the Denver Pride Parade. May our presence reflect your boundless love, justice, and grace.

We continue to lift up congregations throughout Denver Presbytery that are experiencing pastoral transitions. Grant them wisdom, patience, and hope as they discern new leadership. Help them trust the movement of your Spirit as they embrace the next chapter of ministry you are preparing for them.

Bind us together as members and friends of Denver Presbytery, that we may encourage one another, serve faithfully, and bear witness to the love of Christ in all we do.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, we pray.

Amen.

Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and the LGBTQIA+ Equity Advocacy Committee wish you a happy Pride month! To kick it off, we’re sharing an excerpt from the 223rd General Assembly (2018) item, “On Celebrating the Gifts of People of Diverse Sexual Orientations and Gender Identities in the Life of the Church."
The General Assembly established the Advocacy Committee for LGBTQIA+ Equity, which focuses on promoting and ensuring equal rights and opportunities for LGBTQIA+ individuals. Advocacy committees within the denomination serve as a mechanism for accountability and prophetic witness. Together with ministry areas such as Women and Gender Justice, the advocacy committee seeks to address and rectify injustices faced by LGBTQIA+ groups and other groups historically marginalized and silenced due to oppressive power structures perpetuated by human sinfulness.
