This past Sunday at The Summit.

We were reminded that the worst kind of testing is the one you don’t expect. The: “we had no idea what we were about to walk through.”

In Mark 4, the disciples discover that Jesus is as unmanageable as the storm in which they find themselves. But unlike the storm, His unmanageable power is filled with love for them—as it is for us.

The Kingdom of God grows the same way we grow: slowly, through small daily decisions, surrender to Christ, and the grace of God at work.

This past Sunday we thanked the women in our lives, celebrated baptism, prayed for Shannon as he steps out of eldership and into a new season, and lingered over flowers and conversation out on the patio. Thanks to Markie and the flower cart.

Teaching from Mark 4:21-34 is on Spotify and at summitdenver.org/teaching.

The people around you are probably not there by accident.

To follow the way of Jesus is to become more awake and aware to what God might already be doing in the lives of the people nearby.

From Mark 4:1-20.

Five weeks into the Gospel according to Mark.

This Sunday, Jesus told a story about seed and soil—why the same message can be heard by many, yet take root in a few.

The invitation isn’t striving harder, but receiving him deeply. Because what takes root in is shaped what grows out of us.

Mark 4:1-20

In chapter one of Gospel of Mark, Jesus is already calling people to leave what they know and follow him.

Not as a means to an end—but as the end itself.

The question at the center of Mark is simple:

Who is Jesus—
and what does he intend for us?

Mark draws our attention not only to what Jesus teaches, but to what he does.

In that, following him refuses to remain abstract.
Jesus steps into—even interrupts—real lives with authority and compassion.

And we’re faced with their same decision:
not whether to notice him, but whether to surrender.

Good Friday reminds us: some things must come to an end.

So we slowed down—and stayed with the grief, mystery, and love of the cross. A necessary ending.

Then Sunday:
“The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ,
the Son of God” (Mk. 1:1).
An empty tomb. A new beginning.

What an awesome weekend—such joy in celebrating Easter Weeknd together as a church family, alongside many others across our city.

We wrapped our time in 1 Timothy this Sunday.

In this letter from Paul to a young church learning who they are and how to live together, we see God’s invitation to us—people formed by His Spirit, gathered around the Word, learning the countercultural way of Jesus in our relationships, our gifts, our money, and how we lead and follow one another.
