A prayer for self-control.

Proverbs 25:28 puts it this way: “A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.” In the ancient world, a city’s walls were its whole defense. Take them down, and anything could walk right in. That’s the picture here. Self-control isn’t restriction, it’s protection: the wall between you and whatever wants access to your mind, your relationships, your peace.

This is a short prayer for the places where your walls have come down - swipe through and pray it as your own 🤍

God’s grace doesn’t just save us. It trains us to say no to what pulls us away from Him and yes to who He’s called us to be (Titus 2:11-12).

Tonight we had the honor of hosting the East Lincoln High School football team for dinner before their game! Pastor Artur shared a word of encouragement from Ephesians 6, reminding these young men to put on the full armor of God as they head into every battle - on and off the field. He closed the night in prayer over the team, asking for strength, protection, and unity 🙏

You will go through the fire. That’s not up for debate - it’s how you go through it that matters.

Here’s the good news: if you belong to Christ, you’re not walking through it alone. Just like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in Daniel 3, there was a fourth Man in the fire with them, and it didn’t consume them.

Whatever fire you’re walking through right now, it’s not going to consume you either. You’re being refined. You’re being renewed. So don’t quit in the middle of the hard part. Your inheritance is secure in Christ, and nothing in this world can take that from you🔥

Last night, NASCAR driver Matt DiBenedetto pulled up to Students @ Denver - not only to talk about racing, but about the moment his life changed forever: the day he came to know Jesus.

He shared his testimony with our students and left them with his favorite verse, Hebrews 12:1-2 - “let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith.”

From the racetrack to real life, the message was the same: keep your eyes on Jesus and run your race well. Grateful for a night our students won’t forget. 🏁
