The Doctrine of Original Sin needs to be replaced with The Doctrine of Original Stupidity.
My children were not born "sinners," if by sin we mean "making a bad choice," for they hadn't made any choices and couldn't choose for they did not have any concept of Good or evil.
My children were not born "sinners," but they were born stupid (We actually anticipated this problem when we decided to have children); they would need to somehow acquire the knowledge of Good and evil.
When they took knowledge to justify themselves, it was death.
When they received knowledge, trusting that I justified them, it was life.
When they realized that what they had taken had always been given, they gained knowledge of my heart—it was Grace; it was Good for evil; it was Life for everyone.
What's wrong with People? Well, they're stupid. And what is the problem with that? It leads them to sin. And is this a problem that our Father did not anticipate? Of course not.
What was wrong with Adam (and Eve)? They were stupid. What could be more obvious? They did not have the knowledge of Good and evil. Adam couldn't find his "helper" ( ...before the fall and before God made Eve out of himself—Adam is not his own helper, "ezer"). Adam was alone in the presence of Love (God is Love), who is his "helper (Psalm 30:10)."
Adam was stupid. Babies are stupid... but worth dying for.
So are you.
