Andrew Bradford and Betsy Ruby asked me to post the following for them.
Glee Bradford went to be with the Lord on May 15, 2024. She had been extremely ill since February and it was discovered that she was suffering with cancer. We will miss her.
Andrew and Betsy would like to invite you to come to a Celebration Gathering in memory of Glee Bradford. It will be held on Saturday, June 1, at The Crossing Church at 3501 W. 104th Avenue in
Westminster from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. We would love to have you join us and feel free to let anyone you know that may like to come.
Everyone is invited. Please bring a memory to share. Lunch
will be served. We are looking forward to seeing you.--Andrew Bradford and Betsy Ruby

Encouragement in the darkness of the pandemic

The last of the four candles of Advent wreathe will be lit in churches all over the world on Sunday. If it’s like at our church, somewhere in the service a family or individual will read a passage …

Got a message yesterday evening from Gerald "Jerry" Sharpe: "I am deeply saddened to report that my brother Stanley Marshall "Stan" Sharpe passed away on December 14 after a three week battle with Covid in Ashland, Wisconsin. More information to follow." Stan was a Belleview graduate, class of 1963. His mother taught English at the high school ; both parents were Pillar of Fire workers.

We are grieved by the passing of our friend Clarence "Bud" Mahn on October 28, 2020, after a very short battle with leukemia. Bud and his wife, Joyce, had attended Alma Temple regularly for years. They contributed to the music ministry with vocal duets--Bud always gave a pithy introduction to their song--and with participation in quintets together with Elaine Sharpe, Ray Rogers, and Weymuth Reed or Suzanne Wolfram. He enjoyed playing along with the song service on his saxophone.
Much more about the life of Clarence Mahn is found in his obituary, here:

I am working on a ten- (or so) part sermon series on the Prodigal Son. I don't know how long it will take to prepare, but I was given this project and am committed to it. So the other day a topic came to me: where was the mother in all of this? There are two or three answers, each of which gives rise to more questions. Maybe I am working on a multi - part series on the mother of the prodigal. (question : was Prodigal's mother also Elder Brother's mother?)
Stay tuned. - - SGWolfram

In the polity of the Pillar of Fire, major decisions come from the top down. We have seen the handwriting on the wall for a long time, but last week our small and aging congregation got the word: Alma Temple Pillar of Fire will not be resuming services.
There is heartbreak, lots of heartbreak. But above all there is calm, there is peace, there is joy. The Lord God is our strength!

"Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: YET I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places."--Habakkuk 3:17-19
