The Diner of Dallas on Belt Line in Farmer’s Branch was our destination for August’s Mystery Lunch. Despite several last minute cancellations, a strong group of 46 made the 35 minute drive and as you can see from these pics, the food did not disappoint. In typical diner fashion, the menu was large and diverse including my personal favorite, all day breakfast! As good as the food was, I was struck by a comment I overheard, paraphrasing, “…it really doesn’t matter where we go, it’s more about the fellowship and getting out with other people and having a good time than the food!” I couldn’t agree more! Make plans to join us for September’s Mystery Lunch, Wednesday, September 23. You’ll also want to invite a friend and join us at 11am, Saturday September 5, in the Fellowship Hall for our annual Tailgate Party. We had a great turnout for August’s Sr Adult Game Day. I’m not sure if it was the bingo, the promise of more prizes, the selection of salads and desserts, or the fellowship but from the looks of it everyone had a great time! Game day returns September 10, we hope to see you there.

Sr Adult Revival 2026 came to a close yesterday with Pastor Jerry’s explanation of our soul’s need for meaning. So, what does give our soul meaning, you ask? Pastor Jerry concludes that, “What gives our soul meaning is knowing that we are making a difference in the lives of others!” I love the simplicity of that statement and the reality that if I AM making a difference in someone’s life, then I am nourishing my own soul! I remind you that with the exception of a technical issue with the sound in Monday’s live stream recording, all 5 sessions of this years Sr Adult Revival are available for view on First Denton’s YouTube channel.

During today’s Session 4 of our Senior Adult Revival, Pastor Jerry Wells demonstrated how much we are valued by God when he asked us to consider the price God paid (the life of His only Son, Jesus) to make our salvation possible. We were reminded that we are adopted sons and daughters of God, and that in order to be adopted, God first chose us. In the Gospel of Jesus Christ, our soul received love as well as worth, we are valued by God. In tomorrow’s closing session, Pastor Jerry will show how our soul receives meaning in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We hope you can join us in the Fellowship Hall at 11:30am for lunch and Noon for No Other Gods!

Pastor Jerry Wells continued to unpack his belief that, “Everything we need, we received in the Gospel of Jesus Christ!” during yesterday’s session of our annual Sr Adult Revival. As human beings, there is perhaps no greater need common to us all, than our need to be loved. John 3:16 and Romans 5:8 are but two biblical examples of God’s love for us. Our revival continues today and tomorrow in the Fellowship Hall; lunch is served at 11:30 ($10) and services at Noon. Please join us!

Our annual Sr Adult Revival begins tomorrow morning Sunday, July 26, during our regular Sunday morning worship and continues tomorrow night at 6pm in the worship center. The revival continues M-W, July 27-29, at noon in the Fellowship Hall with lunch served at 11:30. This year we will be joined by Pastor Jerry Wells and his wife Saundra. Jerry pastored Western Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma City for 38 years, is a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University and Southwestern Baptist Seminary. July’s mystery lunch found us enjoying northern Italian fare at Don Camillo’s Tuscan Grill in Corinth. Despite the 100+ degree temperature, 56 of our seniors were in attendance, along with Executive Pastor Darren Brown and his wife Lisa, it was one of our better turnouts and a good time was had by all. We’d love to see you at next month’s mystery lunch August 26!
