The deposit date has come and gone but that does not mean it’s too late to register for our Painted Churches of Texas trip November 3-5, 2026. Join us as we travel to Schulenberg, Texas to see six 19th century painted churches hand built and painted by Bavarian and Bohemian settlers. On our way down we will stop at George’s in Waco for lunch and then tour the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum. (Note: we are not talking about baseball!) On our return we will stop in Brenham for lunch and of course tour the Blue Bell Creamery. Cost is $475 (dbl occupancy) and includes everything except your dinner Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Register using the link below or by contacting Stacy in the church office. Registration closes October 22 so don’t delay!

Our Fall Senior Adult Hymn Sing Sunday evening concluded a very busy week of activities for First Denton’s Senior Adult Ministry. With Camp Copass Senior Day this past Tuesday, WEBS Bible study on Wednesday, Game Day on Thursday, and of course our regular Sunday Morning Life Groups we’ve enjoyed plenty of opportunities to fellowship, be encouraged, and be an encouragement to others. Very special thanks to Jan Campbell for organizing last night’s music, and to Lealand Dean, Christy Butler, and Brad Groves for leading us in singing the hymns we grew up with. I confess there were a few I did not know, or just didn’t remember, when I just listened, hummed along, and studied the lyrics. Our next hymn sing will be in the Spring and promises to be just as uplifting as last night. Also a very special thanks to those who brought cobbler, cakes, pies, brownies, and of course ice cream; no FBC Denton hymn sing is complete without something sweet to eat! Last but not least, thank you Tate Marion for running sound and for all you do to support ministry at First Denton. If you don’t know, Tate is a full time student at DBU who works tirelessly with First Denton’s music and tech support team. His picture is below so next time you pass him in the hall be sure to stop and thank him for all he does!

Sr Adult Game Day was full of fun! We had tacos and played bingo and had oodles of winners! But the best part, as always, was the fellowship and brotherly (and sisterly) love! Hope to see you next month!

I’m a little late in posting these pics from our Koinonia Sunday October 4. For those who don’t know, Koinonia Sundays occur the 1st Sunday of each quarter, and it is a time when all 11 of our Sr Adult Sunday Morning Life Groups gather together for food, fellowship, prayer, and the teaching of the Word. 3 groups gather at 8:15, 3 more gather at 9:30 and the other 5 at 11am. In addition to the fellowship, it is a wonderful opportunity for the groups to hear from one of the other wonderful teachers First Denton is so blessed to have. Special thanks to Ron Newsom for teaching at 8:15, Tony Holley for teaching at 9:30, and Chip Sargent at 11am. Additional thanks to Kathryn Garner for facilitating our time of directed prayer following the A.C.T.S. (adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication) method at 11. Our next Koinonia gathering will be Sunday, January 10, a week late due to the holiday season, and we hope to see you there! We also hope to see you this Sunday morning as we resume our normal schedule!
