It is with deep sorrow, yet with the blessed hope we have in Christ, that we announce the passing of Deacon Charles McDade, a faithful deacon and devoted member of the Historic St. Emmanuel Baptist Church. On June 15, 2026, Deacon McDade entered into his eternal rest and the presence of the Lord.

Deacon McDade faithfully served God and this church family for many years. His faithfulness, kindness, and dedication to the work of the Kingdom will long be remembered. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the McDade family and ask that you join us in praying for them, as well as our church family, during this time of bereavement.

For 17 years, First Lady Garnett has faithfully served alongside her husband in ministry at the Historic St. Emmanuel Baptist Church, demonstrating a heart for service, hospitality, and community. Through her leadership of the church's assimilation ministry, she helps ensure that every guest and new member feels welcomed, connected, and valued.
In addition to her ministry leadership, she serves faithfully in the choir and is committed to helping individuals and families find their place within the church while growing in their relationship with God. Her dedication to serving others reflects a genuine passion for building strong connections and strengthening the faith community.
As a devoted wife, mother of four, and servant leader, First Lady Garnett continues to make a lasting impact through her compassion, encouragement, and commitment to ministry.
