My favorite passage in the Bible:

Psalm 1:1-3

“Blessed is the man¹ who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers, 2 but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.”

Gods Word pierces the heart and is sharper than any two edged sword. Every Word in the Bible is Truth. In a world filled with lies, we can always rely on the Bible being the inspired Word of God. You can’t ever read too much of it. In season, and out of season. One of the best ways we can delight in our Creator is being in Gods Word.

It’s very important to seek the heart of Jesus, not just facts. I read John 8 this morning where the woman was caught in the very act of adultery. Jesus said to her, “Did nobody condemn you?” She said, “Nobody, Lord.” Jesus responded, “I do not condemn you either. Go, and leave your life of sin.”

Jesus was unlike any human on this planet. He had a heart of gold for people. It’s my favorite quality about Him. When we seek the heart of Jesus, the knowledge will come. Seek His heart first.

We had chapel this morning at Liberty, and the question that was asked to the students was profound. “Am I actually following Jesus, or am I asking Jesus to follow me?”

When we pray, are we asking God for His will in our lives, or are we praying that our will be done? Following Jesus isn’t just knowing facts about Him. It’s picking your cross up daily. It’s doing exactly what He did on Earth. It’s completely surrendering to Him and His authority over you.

What is God asking from you personally? Do exactly that. Obedience is Gods love language.

Romans 12 shows us how Christians should live on Earth.

Romans 12:9-21

“Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. 10 Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. 11 Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit,serve the Lord. 12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. 13 Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly.Never be wise in your own sight. 17 Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” 20 To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Colossians 1:10 (ESV):
“Walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increase in the knowledge of God.”

Live out the Gospel today. Your actions speak volume about your faith in Christ. I have people in my life that remind me so much of Jesus because of how they walk out their faith each day. Abide in Him and walk with Him all day.

I have been teaching the process of sanctification in my class. Sanctification is the process of becoming more like Jesus overtime after you have put your faith and trust in Him. I have been telling the kids that when you become a believer, Jesus never leaves you where He found you. He will change you to be more like Him overtime.

Every disciple that encountered Jesus was never the same. Matthew for instance, left that tax collectors booth and never looked back. Sanctification is never perfection. But, if you have been a Christian for a decade, you should be able to look back and see where you once were, to where God has brought you today. Why is that? Because you were once serving the flesh, and now you are serving the Spirit.

The Way of Jesus is the complete opposite of the way of this world. You are either serving one or the other.

As many of you know, this year I’ll be teaching 7th grade Bible at Liberty Christian School. Today was our first day back to school, and I couldn’t be more excited to begin what I truly believe is my dream job.

It’s definitely an honor to be able to teach students about Jesus every day, and to be blessed enough to make a living doing what I love. My goal this year is to pour into these students, meet them where they are, and point as many of them toward Jesus as I possibly can.

Each student comes from a different background, with different experiences, struggles, and perspectives. I’m praying that God will use me to be a positive influence in their lives and that, through my words and actions, they will see the love of Christ.

Please pray for this school year and that the students feel valued and loved as they show up to school. It’s going to be a great year!
