As many of you know, this year I’ll be teaching 7th grade Bible at Liberty Christian School. Today was our first day back to school, and I couldn’t be more excited to begin what I truly believe is my dream job.

It’s definitely an honor to be able to teach students about Jesus every day, and to be blessed enough to make a living doing what I love. My goal this year is to pour into these students, meet them where they are, and point as many of them toward Jesus as I possibly can.

Each student comes from a different background, with different experiences, struggles, and perspectives. I’m praying that God will use me to be a positive influence in their lives and that, through my words and actions, they will see the love of Christ.

Please pray for this school year and that the students feel valued and loved as they show up to school. It’s going to be a great year!

The Bible is a collection of 66 books written by 40 different authors over about 1,500 years, across three continents (Asia, Africa, and Europe) and in three languages: Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. It contains more than 63,000 cross-references between its verses, with 39 books in the Old Testament and 27 books in the New Testament. This is why the Bible is the greatest book of all time.

I became a Christian 11 years ago, today. It has been the greatest journey with the Lord. My wife asked me this morning what are some things that I’ve learned a long the way. I ended up writing them down.

1. God loves me so much. His love for me is not dependent on my performance, my faithfulness, or what I can offer Him.
2. God is faithful when I’m not. Even when I fall short, He remains constant and perfectly faithful to me. It’s wild.
3. God isn’t dependent on me. I am dependent on Him.
4. Sanctification is a very slow process. There are sins God has completely removed from my life, and there are sins I still bring before Him and work through with Him every day. Growth doesn’t always happen as quickly as I want it to, but God is still working in me.
5. Following Jesus is the only eternal decision you will ever make. The same is true of choosing not to follow Him. Nothing else in this life carries eternal weight like that decision.
6. You can’t bring anything with you into eternity except your faith. Nothing I accomplish, own, or accumulate here will matter in eternity the way my relationship with Christ does.
7. Every sin has consequences, both small and large.
8. Following God changes your heart. It isn’t about mustering up enough strength or energy to change myself. It is about surrendering to God and allowing Him to transform my heart from the inside out.
9. Submitting to God means giving Him my entire life. It means saying “yes” to His call, even when that yes is difficult, uncomfortable, or costly.
10. We can’t judge obedience by the outcome. Sometimes God will call us into hard things, and just because something is difficult doesn’t mean He isn’t calling us into it. My responsibility is obedience, not controlling the outcome.
11. It is better to give than to receive. Not just my finances. But my time, attention, love, energy, and heart. Giving is a way of reflecting the heart of Christ. My faith isn’t singular. It’s plural. Bringing people with me along the journey.
12. God has a huge heart for the overlooked and the underdog. I should too. I want to notice the people the world overlooks and love them the way God does.
13. His Word pierces my heart and is the most valuable thing in my life. It doesn’t get me closer to God, because I either have Christ or I don’t. But His Word helps align my heart with His every morning and reminds me of what is true.
14. My life can be a testimony to God’s goodness if I let it. The way I live, love, serve,and surrender can point people back to Him.
15. Comparison is the thief of joy. Stay in the lane that God has for you personally.
16. You will never be on your death bed and regret telling too many people about Jesus, going to church too much, or giving all of your time and energy towards God.
17. Love everyone, always. Never let someone’s sin dictate your love for them. Because we are sinners too. Jesus came for the prostitutes and the tax collectors. He came for the sick, not the healthy. If you and I can be children of God, then anyone can.
18. It’s all about faith in Jesus.

God is not only watching how we handle the big moments—He's also watching how faithfully we steward the ordinary ones.

Worship isn't just singing or reading your Bible, even though those things are incredible. We worship God by the way we live our lives every day.

There are people in my life who make me feel closer to God simply by the way they live. Their faith is evident in their words, their actions, and the way they love others.

Your everyday life can be a testimony to God's goodness. Keep chasing Him everyday.

If you ever want to know Gods heart toward you:

I am a child of God.
I am redeemed.
I am forgiven.
I am saved by grace through faith.
I am justified.
I am sanctified.
I am a new creation.
I am chosen.
I am loved.
I am accepted.
I am adopted into God's family.
I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
I am created in God's image.
I am complete in Christ.
I am the righteousness of God in Christ.
I am free from condemnation.
I am more than a conqueror.
I am an heir of God.
I am a co-heir with Christ.
I am God's workmanship.
I am the temple of the Holy Spirit.
I am led by the Spirit of God.
I am blessed.
I am victorious.
I am protected by God.
I am strong in the Lord.
I am the light of the world.
I am the salt of the earth.
I am a citizen of heaven.
I am God's ambassador.
I am called according to His purpose.
I am equipped for every good work.
I am a friend of Christ.
I am seated with Christ in heavenly places.
I am a member of Christ's body.
I am dearly loved.
I am at peace with God.
I am secure in Christ.
I am an overcomer.
I am God's beloved.

Your identity is found in Him. Nothing else matters. If you let these things sink in, the way you look at life changes. Your priorities change. The way you think about yourself will change. And most importantly, the way you think about Him changes. God isn’t mad at you. He has a place for you!

Proverbs 4:23 — “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible. Guarding your heart is so important. There is a very real spiritual battle taking place around us every day. The Bible teaches that angels and demons are at war, and Satan is actively seeking to pull people away from God. Scripture describes him as a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

The world is constantly competing for our attention. We live in a culture that promotes self-centeredness and continually tells us that happiness is found in the next upgrade, achievement, followers, or possession. The lust of the flesh and the pride of life are real struggles, and if we are not intentional about protecting our hearts, the enemy will look for every opportunity to gain a foothold.

Guarding your heart is about more than limiting screen time or avoiding certain influences. It is a way of life that begins with the posture of our hearts toward God. In Ephesians 6, Paul tells believers to prepare for battle by putting on the full armor of God. We are not meant to fight in our own strength. The moment we stop depending on God and begin telling ourselves, “I've got this,” we become vulnerable to temptation and spiritual attack. Jesus says, “Blessed are the poor in spirit.” We need to know that without God, we are spiritually helpless.

So, what are some practical ways we can guard our hearts as Christian men and women?

“Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.” — Philippians 2:10–11

One day, every person will acknowledge Jesus Christ as King. The most terrifying part of hell will not be the fire or the torment—it will be eternal separation from the presence of God.

And the greatest joy of heaven will not be the pearly gates or the streets of gold (although I am looking forward to seeing the beauty of that). The greatest joy of heaven will be standing face to face with Jesus Christ, worshiping our Creator and Savior for all eternity.

Jesus is King.

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
