There was a little boy, taken by his mother to see a famous cathedral as an afternoon excursion. As he saw the sunbeams shining through the stained glass windows he asked the minister, “Who are those people on the windows?” “They are saints,” the minister whispered. Later that evening, the little boy’s father asked him what he had learned at the cathedral. The little boy said, “I now know what saints are. They are people who let the light shine through.”

I want to encourage you to live a surrendered life to the control of the Holy Spirit Who lives inside of you. His light in you will shine brightly, only if you surrender.
Only one life, ‘twill soon be past
Only what’s done for Christ will last
And when I am dying, how glad I’ll be
That the light of my life was burned out for Thee.
Let’s lay all pettiness aside and simply walk with Jesus. Let’s go about sharing the gospel story in an understandable way, and encourage everyone we know, and those we meet in spiritual growth. Let’s finish well! Everything else we leave behind.

Abandoned To God
October 31

You and I must come to God and say this, “I can’t, You never said I could, but You always said that You would.” We need to be men and women who are all out for God. My friend, it is one thing to say this because it sounds good, but there is something entirely different when you say it and mean it. Do you know that you are nothing apart from God?

I am weak but God is strong. I am weak in myself, but my hearts desire is to be all out for Him. My friend, when we come to this point, no matter what age we are at God will use you. You’re going to make a difference. God is going to make people look upon you with favor and He is going to use you. Do not waste your life. We are getting older and we are dying daily. Make the decision today to throw down the things of this world and surrender yourself to Him completely.

We must all come to the point in our lives where we realize that all we truly have is God. There is no one on this earth who can satisfy us like God can. Only He can satisfy us 100%. The things of this world and our temporary relationships cannot satisfy us. Only God can satisfy the human heart.

AN OASIS OF GRACE

The cross of Christ creates a new people, a people unhindered by skin color or family feud. A new citizenry based not on common ancestry or geography, but on a common Savior.
My friend Buckner Fanning experienced this firsthand.

He was a marine in World War II, stationed in Nagasaki three weeks after the dropping of the atomic bomb. Can you imagine a young American soldier amid the rubble and wreckage of the demolished city? Radiation-burned victims wandering the streets. Atomic fallout showering the city. Bodies burned to a casket black. Survivors shuffling through the streets, searching for family, food, and hope. The conquering soldier feeling not victory but grief for the suffering around him.

Instead of anger and revenge, Buckner found an oasis of grace. While patrolling the narrow streets, he came upon a sign that bore an English phrase: Methodist Church. He noted the location and resolved to return the next Sunday morning.
When he did, he entered a partially collapsed structure. Windows shattered. Walls buckled. The young marine stepped through the rubble, unsure how he would be received. Fifteen or so Japanese were setting up chairs and removing debris. When the uniformed American entered their midst, they stopped and turned. He knew only one word in Japanese. He heard it. Brother. “They welcomed me as a friend,” Buckner relates, the power of the moment still resonating more than sixty years after the events. They offered him a seat. He opened his Bible and, not understanding the sermon, sat and observed. During Communion the worshippers brought him the elements. In that quiet moment the enmity of their nations and the hurt of the war were set aside as one Christian served another the body and blood of Christ.

DEPENDING ON HIM

Go gently through the day, leaning on Me and enjoying My Presence. I say gently, not only because it is the best way for you to cope with the demands of the day, but because I Myself am gentle—especially with those who are weak. You need to lean on someone, and I am definitely the most reliable Person you could ever find. I—the Lord of the universe—am always available to help you.

My availability is based on My commitment to you, which is deeper and stronger than even the most ardent wedding vows. No matter how passionately in love a bride and groom may be, their vows last only until one of them dies. My commitment, however, is absolutely unlimited. When you asked Me to be your Savior, I wed you for eternity. Neither death nor life, nor anything else in all creation can separate you from My Love!

I invite you to lean on Me as much as you like, but I also want you to enjoy Me. When you are weary, you find it easier to lean on Me than to enjoy My company. In an attempt to save energy, you tend to shut down emotionally. But it is possible for you to be joyful in Me—Your Savior—even in desperate circumstances.
Remember that I am your strength. Rejoice in Me, and relax while I speak to you in gentle whispers.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
--Romans 8:38–39

We don’t need to think about forgiving others, because God has forgiven us. It is not something we need to think and pray about. You and I need immediately forgive other people when we have been wronged.

So many Christians today feel pious, they know the word of God, they’re committed to the church, and they practice what is called, “the silent treatment.” My friend, you haven’t forgiven them, the “silent treatment” is a sign of having an unforgiving bitter spirit and it always defiles many. This kind of attitude can affect our local church and hold back the work of the Holy Spirit of God. My friend, be too wise to engage in an unforgiving spirit!
