There is something special about heading home after a long trip.
The miles have been long.
The days have been full.
You are tired.
You have seen a lot, done a lot, and carried a lot.
But then something changes.
The closer you get to home, the lighter everything feels.
The road seems shorter.
The excitement grows.
The fatigue starts fading.
Why?
Because you know home is ahead.
You know there is a place waiting for you.
A place of comfort.
A place of peace.
A place where you belong.
And the older I get, the more I think that’s exactly how our walk with Christ should feel.
This world is not our final destination.
We work.
We struggle.
We fight battles.
We experience loss.
We face disappointment.
We carry burdens.
Some days are beautiful.
Some days are incredibly difficult.
But for those who belong to Jesus, we are not simply wandering through life without direction.
We are heading home.
Every day that passes is one day closer to seeing our Savior face to face.
One day closer to a place with no sickness.
No anxiety.
No fear.
No heartbreak.
No funerals.
No tears.
Just peace.
Just joy.
Just the presence of God forever.
Jesus said,
“In My Father’s house are many rooms… I go to prepare a place for you.”
John 14:2
Think about that.
The Creator of the universe has prepared a place for those who love Him.
A home.
Not temporary.
Not uncertain.
Not dependent on circumstances.
A forever home.
And maybe that’s why believers can still have hope during difficult seasons.
Because even when life gets hard, we know where this road ends.
The enemy wants us focused on the potholes.
God wants us focused on the destination.
So if you’re tired today…
Keep going.
If you’re discouraged…
Keep going.
If the journey feels long…
Keep going.
Because every mile traveled in faith brings you closer to home.
And when that day comes, every struggle, every sacrifice, every tear, and every battle will be worth it.
The road may be long.
But home is ahead.
Pastor Chad
Lord, thank You for the promise of eternity with You. When this journey feels long and difficult, remind us that this world is not our home. Help us keep our eyes on You and the hope that awaits us. Give us strength for today’s road and peace knowing that one day we will finally be home. Amen.
