Happy Feast Day! St. Joseph is the husband of Mary and the “foster father” of Jesus, since Jesus was conceived through the Holy Spirit. He was chosen to take care of Mary and Jesus. He is never quoted in Scripture, but he is depicted as a carpenter, a just man who listens to God and is directed by God in dreams: first to accept Mary as his wife even though she was pregnant with Jesus and, after Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem, to take Jesus and Mary and flee to Egypt to save Jesus’ life from King Herod.

Today we celebrate the quiet strength of Saint Joseph.

He didn’t preach sermons. He didn’t perform miracles. He didn’t write a single word of Scripture. And yet, he changed the world.

Joseph listened. He trusted. He acted. When God asked him to take Mary as his wife, he said yes. When he was warned in a dream, he got up in the middle of the night and went. No spotlight. No applause. Just faithful obedience.

In a culture that chases noise and recognition, Joseph shows us another way: steady love, hidden sacrifice, courageous fatherhood, and the holiness of ordinary work.

Whether you’re leading a family, building something with your hands, or quietly carrying responsibilities that no one else sees, your faithfulness matters.

St. Joseph, protector of families and patron of workers, pray for us. 🌿

We offer a special prayer today for our Canadian Knights and friends who are celebrating the feast of their country's patron saint.

Today, we celebrate the feast of St. Joseph.

St. Joseph is honored with feast days throughout the Liturgical Year. This feast encourages us to look at Joseph's role as husband and head of the Holy Family.

Most of what we know about the life of St. Joseph comes to us from Scripture and legends that have sprung up regarding his life. Though Joseph is only mentioned by two of the evangelists, he is paid the compliment of being a "just" man. This is a way of saying that Joseph was such a good and holy man that he shares in God's own holiness. In addition, Joseph gives us an example of how to be a just spouse and how to have holy relationships.

Joseph's example as a husband can be best seen in how he respected Mary. He realized that God had a special plan for his wife and for his son, and Joseph did everything in his power to help this plan become reality. When Joseph was given chances to give up his vocation to the married life, by divorcing Mary or leaving her, he resisted the temptation and stayed by her side providing support and love.

The feast of St. Joseph Husband of Mary has been celebrated throughout the church since the tenth century and has been honored as the Patron of the Universal Church since 1870. St. Joseph is the patron of workers, carpenters, Austria, Belgium, Bohemia, Canada, Mexico, Peru, and southern Vietnam.

St. Joseph, pray for us! 🙏

Today on the Solemnity of Saint Joseph, the spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we contemplate the life of Saint Joseph. A man of strong faith, he trusted God's message delivered by an angel to marry Mary. Then, after the birth of Jesus, he protected the Holy Family from harm and escaped from Herod's order to kill all male Jews under two years old by leading them to Egypt. Later, after receiving another message from an angel, he returned to his homeland.⁣

Nothing is written of him in the gospels after Jesus is found in the temple. Tradition holds he died before Jesus began his ministry, in the presence of Mary and Jesus.⁣

Saint Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, pray for us!.
