Our campers enjoyed such a fun and enriching Kidquake weekend at Camp Gilmont! With other children from across Grace Presbytery, our young disciples participated in Bible learning, small-group time, and camp activities including canoeing, hiking, and archery.
The theme of this year’s conference was “The Next Right Thing!” They learned about the brave ways that Lydia, Mary, and Mary Magdalene did the next right thing for God. The mission project was something our church is familiar with - making personal hygiene kits for disaster victims organized through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. This gave the campers hands-on experience of how their actions can have a significant impact in God’s world.
And in true camp fashion, we even had a few unexpected adventures along the way - a dead church bus battery (now fixed!) and a tornado warning that sent kids and adult sponsors to huddle together in bathrooms, singing church songs while we waited it out together. Moments like these could have put a damper on the weekend, but instead they became reminders of joy, faith and community. Truly nothing could have taken away from what God was doing in and through us during our time together.
