beloved. that’s a wrap 🤍

three days at camp walter johnson. worship. the word. late nights. early mornings. friends old and new.

commissioner kelly closed us out this morning, and left us with this...
what are you willing to lay down?

he walked us through 1 corinthians 13 and reminded us what love actually is — love doesn’t quit. love isn’t jealous. love isn’t rude. love isn’t self-centered. love lays it down for somebody else.

then he told us about the empress of ireland. 171 salvationists on board. only 8 survived. one teenage girl gave her life jacket to an older man so he could live. when he swam back, feeling guilty, she asked him “are you prepared to meet the Lord tonight?” he said no. so she made him take it back — and she perished.

“that’s what true love is. someone who’s willing to lay their life down for another.”

and then this...

“the problem is not getting in the car and leaving. the problem is getting home the same. we do have to return. but we should never go back the same way we came.”

so nscyouth — we’re heading home. but not the same way we came 🙌

commissioner donna’s challenge to our corps cadets graduates this morning — hold on to Jesus. in a loud world, he’s your anchor. in a distracted world, he’s your focus. in a pressured world, he’s your identity.
