AMENDS: When Change Speaks Louder Than Words

What does it really mean to make amends?

Amends aren’t simply saying, “I’m sorry.” They’re about changed behavior—allowing the transformation God is doing in us to speak through the way we live.

Sometimes making a direct amend is possible. Sometimes it isn’t wise, safe, or even possible. That’s where living amends come in: choosing to live differently, breaking old patterns, and becoming the person God is calling us to be.

This week at Celebrate Recovery, we’ll dive into Amends and what Steps 8 & 9 look like in real life.

Come learn how making amends can bring freedom from guilt, shame, and the patterns that have kept us stuck. You don’t have to stay who you’ve always been.

Celebrate Recovery is MORE than drugs & alcohol. ❤️‍🩹

One of the biggest misconceptions about Celebrate Recovery is that you have to struggle with drugs or alcohol to belong here.

You don't.

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered, safe place where we can face life's hurts, hang-ups, and habits from A to Z, with Jesus Christ leading the way.

Maybe your struggle is anger.
Maybe it's anxiety.
Maybe it's codependency or control.
Maybe it's grief, fear, forgiveness, food issues, gambling, people-pleasing, po*******hy, relationship struggles, resentment, or something you've never told anyone about.

You don't have to wait until your life is falling apart to ask for help.

We ALL have something.

And at Celebrate Recovery, you don't have to pretend that everything is okay. You can find a Forever Family that will walk alongside you as you pursue healing, freedom, and a deeper relationship with Jesus.

📖 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28 NIV

🙏 Let's pray:

Jesus, thank You for meeting us exactly where we are. Give us the courage to face the areas of our lives that need healing and the humility to ask for help. Break down the walls of shame, fear, and isolation that keep us from experiencing the freedom You have for us. Surround us with people who will encourage us, challenge us, pray with us, and point us back to You. Lead the way as we take our next step toward healing.

In Jesus' name, Amen. 🙏

No matter what letter of the alphabet your struggle begins with, there's a place for you at Celebrate Recovery.

Sometimes the most powerful testimonies are the ones that remind us that addiction doesn’t discriminate—and that recovery is possible.

Join us this Friday night at Joshua’s Crossing Celebrate Recovery for a special testimony from Phillip, that was previously shared and recorded during our Annual Native Nations Night.

His story is one of surrender, faith, restoration, and purpose. Through Celebrate Recovery, Phillip found accountability, fellowship, mentors, and his “FOREVER FAMILY”!

And his message is simple but powerful:

Recovery is possible.
Addiction can happen to anyone.
And no matter how broken we become, God can make us new.

Come hear his story. Come find hope. Come see what God can do with a surrendered life.

🏆 VICTORY isn’t about being perfect—it’s about taking the next faithful step.

Recovery is made up of countless small victories: the courage to walk through the doors, the decision to ask for help, one more day of sobriety, choosing forgiveness, telling the truth, letting go of shame, or simply refusing to give up.

God doesn’t ask us for perfection—He calls us to persevere. Every step toward Him is a victory worth celebrating.

“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” — 1 Corinthians 15:57

Join us this Friday at Joshua’s Crossing Celebrate Recovery as we dive into Lesson 15: Victory and discover that true victory isn’t found in never falling—it’s found in faithfully getting back up with Christ leading the way.

🍽️ Potluck starts at 6:00 PM! Bring your favorite dish to share as we gather around the table for food and fellowship.

🎉 It’s also Chip Night! Whether you’re picking up your very first chip or celebrating years of recovery, every milestone matters. We celebrate every victory because every step forward is evidence of God’s faithfulness. If you’ve reached a milestone, we’d love to celebrate with you!

🎶 Worship, teaching, open share groups, and a community that will welcome you exactly as you are.

No matter your hurt, habit, or hang-up, there is hope. There is healing. And there is victory in Christ.

“My people are being destroyed because they don’t know Me…” — Hosea 4:6

Kaylie’s favorite Bible verse speaks volumes—and so does her story.

This Friday, July 31, Kaylie will be sharing her powerful testimony of how knowing God changes everything. When we truly come to know Him, He leads us out of destruction and into hope, healing, and freedom.

At Celebrate Recovery, we believe no hurt, habit, or hang-up is beyond God’s redeeming love. Recovery isn’t about having it all together—it’s about taking the next step toward knowing Him more and allowing Him to transform our lives.

Are you READY to let God do His work in you?

This Friday at Joshua’s Crossing Celebrate Recovery, we’re walking through Lesson 14: READY—a reminder that healing accelerates when we become willing to let God remove the character defects that keep us stuck.

Are you R.E.A.D.Y. to…?
R – Release the secrets that keep you in bo***ge.
E – Embrace accountability with trusted people.
A – Accept God’s grace instead of living in shame.
D – Depend on God’s strength, not your own.
Y – Yield every area of your life to His transforming power.

You don’t have to clean yourself up before you come. You simply have to be willing. God does the transforming.

Healing begins with honesty.

One of the hardest things we ever do is let down our guard and allow ourselves to be truly seen. We spend so much of our lives hiding behind masks, afraid that if people knew the real us, they would reject us. But freedom is found where honesty begins.

Tonight at Joshua’s Crossing Celebrate Recovery, we’ll be looking at what it means to ADMIT:

A – Authenticity begins healing.
D – Drop the mask.
M – Move beyond shame to freedom.
I – Integrity replaces hypocrisy.
T – Tell the truth without excuses.

James 5:16 says, “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.” Healing isn’t found in pretending. It’s found in bringing what’s hidden into the light, where God’s grace can do its work.

If you’re carrying hurts, habits, or hang-ups, you don’t have to carry them alone. Celebrate Recovery is a safe place where imperfect people come together to find hope, healing, and freedom through Jesus Christ.
