The sanctuary floor work is complete, but work continues on the outside as brick masons work to restore the outside of our historic building. Even the little workers are helping tidy things up!

While working on the flooring of our historic sanctuary, we ran across an original flooring nail. After a little research, I found this to be a cut nail, which were used from the 1790s to the 1890s before the machined nails were more popular. That falls in line with our 153 year old sanctuary. Cut nails were the first transition from fully wrought nails. Cut nails were partially manufactured from sheet iron but the head was hammered by hand. Anyone with knowledge in antiquities please feel free to comment. Anyway, very interesting. It’s a reminder of the history that we walk across every Sunday.

This past Sunday, August 30th, we had the great joy of welcoming Canon Brian Cannaday as our guest at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church!

Between our 8 am and 10:30 am masses, he led our congregation in a discussion about our core values and missions as a church. Canon Brian Cannaday did a wonderful job helping us envision our parish’s future as we continue to faithfully seek and follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance!
