Whose side are you on?

13 When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing before him with his drawn sword in his hand. And Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us, or for our adversaries?” 14 And he said, “No; but I am the commander of the army of the Lord. Now I have come.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped and said to him, “What does my lord say to his servant?” 15 And the commander of the Lord's army said to Joshua, “Take off your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so.
Joshua 5:13-15 ESV

Something to think about. The commander of the Lord's army was not on the side of the Israelites. The very people we have grown up hearing that they were God's chosen people. And the angel said he was not on their side, but God. Let that sink in for a few.

I was enjoying a celebrate freedom gathering of my wife's family. And the thought occurred to me that we across the country are celebrating what we call freedom, however, there is another side to this story.

To the British empire what we did was not freedom, but high treason.
While in the military it was against he rules to preach faith to another, but that was a rule I was always willing to break for their spiritual freedom. When it comes to the government or society, are we willing to against the rules to give another freedom?

We are called to be the counter culture, not the main stream.

In the past week I have seen many upset and sad over what is going on. From race to orientation, and there continues to be one thing that I must say to those I can reach.

The bible is our truth, the truth, but it is not everyone's accepted truth. Learn how to use it correctly, with in context, and with love and patience you will win those that are around you.

Do not hold unbelievers to a standard they reject. First show them how Jesus loves the sinner, and He will show them the sin they need removed. We are not to condemn, that is not our place here in this moment. Instead let us speak life into others, let us help them through the hurt that has put them there. In time you might be surprised who comes to know God through you.

Sorry this is last minute but I have been asked to, and I agreed to lead Seder meal at the church. It wil be Friday night April 3, starting at 7pm. All are welcome if they feel inclined.

I apologize for my absence the last few months. I have heard it said that we are being watched by those around us, not for how we act on a day to day basis, but for the dark periods in our life. I have been struggling with wanting to continue on due to many factors, new job, loss of family, not feeling support from others, not wanting to shine a light when I feel the world just doesn't care.

But now you have seen me in a dark spot. And now watch me move past it. I am not a beacon of light, only God is. It is best that I remember that. I will update soon on the status of youth. For now I am returning the Sunday morning meet. Not sure about wed nights due to work.

Please be in prayer for our family. We just found out that Bennett's mother was killed in a car accident this afternoon. Classes will be cancelled until further notice.

What are you doing here?(Cont.)

Have you come to find answers, or to be an answer?

Many people are looking for an answer to life's questions. Have you ever thought that God might have you as an answer to some one else's? If you carry the answer wether by living as an example, or just showing love by listening and knowing where to show others what God says in the word, does that help you understand that you are in fact special?

There is a reason we are here, and we will look more into it Wednesday.

Why are we here?

Do we have a purpose, or are we just some chance mishap that has no meaning?

Why should we care?

Ever ask yourself this? I know I have in the past. I have some answers, but this time you will have to step up some. WE (as in you and I) will be looking at the answer together and discussing them. Be prepared to talk about your opinions, more importantly be prepared to accept what God has to say as a non opinion, but fact.
